Some Kinda Magic

« on: February 23, 2008, 10:54:23 PM »

Silverchair are an Aussie band with music that I describe as "Progressive".

Just wondering if you have heard of this band?

If you have -

Could you please state what country you are from.

We are just wondering how far reaching their music is around the world.

(For all the singers out there who have heard of this band .......... I have just cracked how to sing Straight Lines.............you sing it in a straight line!)     ok

Silvertide, usa

silverchair, Aussies

I thought singer of Silverchair was dead???

Anyway, they came out in mid 90's and were a good band.  They were only 16 with huge album Frogstomper.  In year 1999 they had a minor hit with "In the year 2000". I haven't heard too much from them since.  Debut album kicked ass.

I'm from Sydney, Australia and have known about Silverchair since they first came out with the single "Tomorrow" when I think they were all around 15-16 yrs old. Their debut album that followed was pretty solid, with some cool heavy riffing. The albums that followed continued in similar vein, although starting to branch out and get more 'pop' sounding.

Fast forward to their latest album and they've completely lost me. The guitars have almost disappeared only to be replaced by keyboards, and the band have turned into a cross between Coldplay and Radiohead... confused

i'm from england.  i loved frogstomp and freakshow when i was about 15 (about 8 years ago) but never really got into electric ballroom, so i kinda lost interest after that.  i saw them about a year and a half ago tho whilst visiting australia.

gonna have to dig up some of the old songs Wink

So many threads on Silverchair already.   Any chance of just combining at this point?
