Great writing style!
A couple of comments:
That AFD album review while amazing comes a little too late. It would've been very relevant 20 years ago and it comes kind of uinnecessary in 2007/8. Let me explain. While those AFD songs will be always great to listen to, and even greater to rock to at live shows, the context of the album mention brings to mind 4 other musicans, who have done enough wrong to this band to deserve getting praised to this day, and provokes a sense of nostalgia and absolutely meaningless re-union thoughts to the masses. I do not want to discredit anyone from the past but once you willingly give up on something you were an integral part of, and say "fuck you" to both GN'R and its fanbase, then it is only fair that you stop getting what you took for "granted" attention and benefits for life....at least not at the expense of others who are still working hard and putting their heart and soul into fixing a mess and rebuilding a monster, so that the legacy continues in true impacting and forever lasting fashion and true loyal fans are taken good care of.
The Chicago show review is astounding. My only complaint is the Bon Jovi comparison. That name just doesn't go too well among many rabid GN'R fans.
I agree with you that Illusions owned AFD on any and all levels (although a lot of simple minds fail to see that - it's ok...each to their own). I believe CD and its sequels will own AFD and Illusions taken together. It's only the natural progression of a true artist who is not motivated by money or fame, but by constant seek for perfection and artistic growth, by the magic of creating an inspiring and ever lasting art, set to make a deep mark on the history of music.
