I guess maybe Jon is just smarter than most cause he sure has found? a way to keep Bon Jovi great and popular for over 25 years.

500,000 copies sold in 3 weeks of Lost highway which is an amazing album. It has ZERO POP on it thank u very much.

So?

Tool' latest album, 10,000 Days entered the U.S. Billboard 200 chart at number one, selling 564,000 copies in its first week. In Australia, 10,000 Days debuted at #1, selling 39,278 in its first week.

In the UK, the album debuted at #4, the highest chart position they have ever managed in that country. It was certified Platinum in the U.S. by the RIAA on June 9, 2006. As of April 2007, 10,000 Days has sold 2.75 million copies worldwide.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/10%2C000_Days

I guess that means Tool are more successful than Bon Jovi in the United States since they sold more albums in one week than Bon Jovi has sold in 3 Wink

U guys dont realize how Misinformed your arguments are.

If in 22 years, Tool are STILL this successful and are still selling records, Then sure, u can say whatever u want.

The fact Bon Jovi are STILL successful 22 years after they started is an amazing accomplishment that none of you are understanding or realizing.

They are still releasing quality albums that go multi plantinum and they are still selling out STADIUMS

Excuse me Tool fans, But I don't think Tool have ever had a record anywhere close to Slippery When Wet or New Jersey asf ar as sales go.

So get back to me when they have a record sell 20 million worldwide. ok

Tool have been around for 17 years, bud...Bon Jovi has 5 years on them.. who cares? Roll Eyes

Nice to see how you didn't even mention my point of how 10, 000 Days crucified Bon Jovi's latest effort in 1 week alone.

You try to argue that Bon Jovi is bigger, more successful than Tool, but the numbers just dont support?your claim, now do they?

Plus Tool have only released 4 full-length studio albums, Bon Jovi have what? 12 turds swirling around in the toilet?

Not to mention the fact that virtually no radio stations play Tool due to the length of their songs...so you'll have to forgive them if they haven't incited 20 million soccer moms to invest in their catalogue Kiss

THey've made 4 albums in 17 years?

WOW their 4th album sold 500,000 first week! ALthough u fail to mention for the entire year it sold 1.2 million..... SO after the intitial first week, it slowed down considerably. I guarantee Lost Highway goes at least Double Platinum, So once again another lost argument by Bon Jovi haters.

Hell their Have A Nice Day album sold 1.5 million.

So no, Tool aren't selling more records.

Do u know what Bon Jovi's 4th album was? A little album named "New Jersey" that had 2 number 1 singles and 3 other top ten singles, it sold 8 million in the US alone and almost 20 million worldwide.

Let tool make 12 albums and see if they can still keep these sales up.

Also,Can Tool sell out Stadiums?

Didn't think so

BJ are a WAYYYYYYY bigger band overall and I guarantee worldwide they crush tool's 10,000 days.

See BJ are an International Mega band t hat can play whenever, wherever and sell out every seat no matter how big the place is.

Bon Jovi sell as many tickets by themselves as these big multi band festivals do.

Also, wait till BJ break out the big gun singles on Lost Highway, Their first single isn't close to being the biggest hit on this album

Sit back a few months and take notice.

U like so many others on here need to see Bon Jovi live. I can guarantee you would change your mind about them.

Bon Jovi is bigger and more succesful than Tool, the numbers DO support that claim.  Has Tool sold over 125 million albums, packed stadiums and perform infront of thousands regularily?  I am not dissing Tool in any way I think they are a great band, but in terms of numbers they got nothing on Bon Jovi.  So 10,000 days beat Lost Highway, remember that this is a different generation.  If you want to compare 10,000 days (which is probly Tool's best selling album), compare it to Slippery When Wet or any other of Bon Jovi's massive debut selling albums.

Dude selling 2.5 million worldwide is nothing compared to what BJ do.

Their 2000 album "Crush" Sold 8 million worldwide.

If u want to have an opinion and say Tool are better, Fine

But as far as who is bigger there is no argument considering Bon Jovi are probably one of the 5 biggest bands in the world as far as concert tickets etc go.

Just check The top concerts a couple years ago and the scary thing is, BJ didnt even tour the full year and they still were amongst the leaders in money made on tour.

Say whatever u want about Jon bu t there arent many who are as business savvy as he is.

BJ are the bigger band , TOOL are more creative musically though. Bigger doesn't always mean better , I'm sure lots of gangsta rappers out-sell BJ , does it make them better hell no!

Exactly, Tool's album also killed the Rolling Stones new album that came out a couple years ago, so does tha tmean they are bigger than the Stones?

Of Course not.

Someone can saY all theyw ant that Tool are better * I personally Don't agree as the whole Heavy,Pro Tools laced music doesn't really impress me as much as having great melodies, music and lyrics? that touch your heart* but each to his own with an opinion.

Its like I was sayin in a thread about comparin New GNR To Slash

U can have any opinion u want on who u LIKE more

But its just like in Pro Sports, I can give u a laundry list of statistics that proves someone is Bigger, more successful etc.

Like if u follow Basketball, I can tell u why Micheal Jordan is better than Kobe Bryant very easily. U can like Kobe more than MJ but U can never say Kobe is better cau se the stats don't back that up.

Same with this

Bon Jovi are way bigger than Tool and most other bands and that can be backed up very easily with statistics.

When? u factor in Record Sales, Concert tickets etc, U got maybe Rolling Stones,U2 and Metallica as the only bands I can really say are BIGGER than Bon Jovi.

Have a Nice Day sold 1.5 million?

As of April, 10,000 Days has sold 2.75 million albums....a million more than Bon Jovi....

Since the band expects to be touring well into next year, its safe to assume that figure will only keep growing.

You also forget that New Jersey was released in an era when internet downloading didn't exist, so to say Tool has to top that record to match Bon Jovi's success is a flawed analogy.

I have no idea if Tool play stadiums, or if thats theyre thing, but they do in fact headline rock festivals around the world...Roskilde last year for example...

Virtually every arena and theatre they play in North America and Europe is a sell-out...

By the way, I actually have seen Bon Jovi live not once, but twice, and to say he was mediocre in comparison to say Prince, Tool, Guns N' Roses, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Rolling Stones, etc would be more than generous.

BJ are the bigger band , TOOL are more creative musically though. Bigger doesn't always mean better , I'm sure lots of gangsta rappers out-sell BJ , does it make them better hell no!

Pro-Tools laced music??

Have you ever even listened to a Tool album?

Do yourself a favor and download "The Pot" or "Intension" or "Right in Two" and you'll see more talent in a single song than Bon Jovi can muster in an entire album.

Is Tico Torres capable of anything remotely close to what Danny does on Right in Two?

No.

Why is that?

He's not regarded by any notable critics, or professionally musicians as being one of the best drummers in the world.

Is Danny Carey?

Yes he is.

Hell, Bumblefoot even said in chat on EFISH's site months ago, that when it comes to drummers, Danny Carey is the best there is Smiley

As of April 2007, 10,000 days has sold 2.7 million albums worldwide, although that is a very nice number I don't know why you Tool fans keep bringing that number up.  Lost Highway will easily beat that number in a little more than a year (roughly about the same amount of time 10,000 days was released)

Have A Nice Day has sold 5 million albums and has been on the market only a few months more than 10,000 days.  I don't believe debut sales mean anything anymore, Avril Lavigne outsold Bon Jovi, Nine Inch Nails, Velvet Revolver and im pretty sure any other talented artist that has released an album this year, but that sure as hell doesn't mean she is the better artist, or that her total album sales will ever compare to the tiniest fraction of Bon Jovi's.

HAND sold 1.5 in the US alone to Tool's 1.2 million and worldwide, like mdtkk said. HAND at 5 million which is almost double.

I've heard Tool and they do absolutely nothing for me.

compare tool with bon jovi
is the most stupid thing..
is like comparing einstein with a mongoloid (tool being enstein)
is like comparing one of the best musicians in thelast 20 years with a some turds that play crappy music (bon jovi being the turds)

quality in music doesnt mean record sales
bon jovi can fill up stadiums.. but they are shit...

Bon Jovi may play fairly simple pop-rock, but the entire band are great musicians. Richie Sambora is a really great guitar player especially.

They survived the 90s being an 80s band.

Honestly not to pick on people but all these "This Band sold more than Bon Jovi in concerts, albums, plastic figurines, halloween costumes" and vice versa is a really strange way to judge music or say who is actually better. Nsync and the backstreet boys outsold everyone for years. I don't think that anyone on this board would agree that makes it good or credible music. Who cares how "big" a band is? I like to see artists I'm a fan of do well but honestly sometimes I would rather not have em be one of the biggest out there. I like seeing bad religion in a club as opposed to having to pay literally 5 times as much for a spot where I am sitting throughout the show trying to squint and make out who I am looking at while hoping the speakers make it to me.
