what's with all the bon jovi bashing? despite what axl said half a life time ago, bon jovi is one of the few remaining rock bands that can still rock the fuck out of a crowd, AND have good songs. i always liked them and the vibe around them, they are very good at what they do and a very sympathetic and charismatic group. big ups to bon jovi for doing what they do best all these years. smoking

tell me what u think of the new song

it kicks so much fucking ass!

Hey, I can't view the video here at work, what's the song like?
What other Bon Jovi song would you compare it to?

And most importantly, does it have a kickass Richie Sambora solo?

give it 3 listens, I think its better than Its My Life

its got that same live your life dont let the world drag u down type commentary to it but the riff kicks ass, the verses kick ass, the bridge, the chorus is a huge hooky sing along anthem type chorus

and Richie's solo is one of the best ones he's had in awhile.

keep trying that link and tell me what u think when u get to watch it.

Thanks for the review, it's good to hear Richie is playing some good guitar stuff again, I felt like he's kinda drifted a bit on the last few albums. I love Keep The Faith and These Days but lost a bit of interest after that.

And yeah I'll keep trying the link and I'll let you know once I've listened to it.

awesome!

here are the lyrics, they may be a bit off but this is how I hear em

Why U wanna tell me how to live my life
who are u to tell me if its black or white
momma can u help me try an understand
innocence is the difference in a boy and a man

my daddy lived to die it was just the price that he paid
sacrificed his life slaving away

chorus
oh If theres one thing I hang on to
that gets me through the night
ohhhh I ain't gonna do what I dont want too
I gotta live my life
shinin like a diamond
rollin with the dice
standing on the ledge soaring when I fly
when the world gets in my face I say
Have A nice Day
Have A Nice Day

Take A look around nothing's what it seems
we're living in the broken home of hopes and dreams

Let me be the first to shake your helping hand
everybodys brave enough to take a stand
I knocked on every door on every dead end street
lookin for forgiveness what's left to believe?

chorus

guitar solo

chorus

when the world keeps tryin to hold me down
i gotta raise my hands and stand my ground

I say

Have A Nice Day

Have A Nice Day

thats the song

u gotta listen though, the melody and everything just kicks ass.

if this song isnt a hit nothing should be.

I can't get that damn video link to work rant but I found a 1 minute studio clip of the song on the official Bon Jovi site and from that it sounds pretty good.

Richie's guitar riff doesn't sound like anything flash, just open chords, but the song is definitely catchy, kind of like a cross between Keep The Faith era with newer Bon Jovi.

I'll keep a look out for a link for the full live version of the song, unless someone will be kind enough to post it here for me? Smiley

bon jovi... a total joke, willl never be taken seriously thats just the way it is, their musical talents are hardly credible.

a great band for homosexuals and the girlies though... so Im guessing D fits into one of those categories?

saw this and had to post...

I am a straight man. I know several other buddies who are also straight who are into Bon Jovi music. Why is Bon Jovi for homosexuals and females only? They have superb songs about faith and standing up to the world. That's a message for anyone and everyone. And about being respectable... 100 million and counting albums sold comes to mind. Selling sold out stadiums in over 45 nations also comes to mind...

You speak before you know the facts. Bon Jovi is a superb respectable band. The numbers speak for themselves.

As you're on this board longer you'll realize, Stones, why we have to read comments like that anti-Bon Jovi stuff there.  Many people on this board totally dismiss every hair metal band as irrelevant, gay, untalented, fake, sellouts.  It sucks, but there's a lot of people who think that way.  Its good to see there are people who don't think that way, and realize there were hair metal bands who are really good.  I'll take Bon Jovi over Nirvana, Pearl jam, Soungarden, Nine Inch Nails, Oasis, and all those other bands that constantly get their dicks sucked on this board by everybody.

Or maybe we can all like Bon Jovi together with those bands you mentioned. ok

I was a big Bon Jovi fan around the time of Keep The Faith and These Days, but since then, they haven't done much to keep me interested.

They still put on a hell of a live show though, and this coming new album is supposedly a big return-to-the-rock album, so I'm hoping it'll be good.

The album title didn't click for me right away but we'll see.

I just heard the song for the first song on radio, was good to hear it getting some air play, it was on the pop teeny-bopper station too so it would be well heard  ok

It's a terrible song. JBJ can't sing anymore, and he depends on the studio effects to make his voice sound decent. He doesn't sound raw or natural at all. It's too band they would have to change the band's name if they wanted a good singer. It's a shame, but JBJ is way, way past his peak, and he needs to call it a day.

Everything about the song itself is cliche adult contemporary radio rock. Nothing about the music is unique or exceptional. Let's pretend BJ broke up in 1991, it's best that way. Ditto for GnR. Wink

EDIT: Strange that I'm one of the 1% who don't like it!  rofl

To tell the truth, I was expectin? another crapy Crush type of song, but this surprised me.It`s really good, and finally Richie Sambora has stoped with those really REALLY short solos.Really good.I just hope the new album keeps up to this song, because I also think Jon is getting a bit worst on his thing.

Actually the version of the song at live 8 is much better, The studio does take away some of the life of the song but Live is truly rocks.

The little scream Jon does before the last chorus is pretty horrendous

overall its a good song, I definitely prefer it live though.

as far as Jon and Axl go, they were the two greatest frontmen of their era and paid the price for it by blowing out their vocal cords

they didnt do like most frontmen they performed every single night and gave their all everynight

unfortunately their voices will never be the same.

Um, no. They screwed up their voices because of poor technique and rock and roll excess of drugs, cigs, and all that. Axl's voice isn't as shot as JBJ's, though. He uses the studio techniques because they're "cool", and this makes him even worse, because his voice is better. JBJ doesn't have a choice now about it if he doesn't want to sound like James Hetfield on St. Anger.

It's a good song, in the classic "Livin on a prayer re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re loaded" Bon Jovi kinda way.  I'm looking forward to the album
