Why do some people make it their life's mission to defend Slash on Guns N' Roses boards everyday 12 years after he left?   Its like you are on some lame nerd crusade to protect Slash and question anyone who might disagree with him.     All in the meanwhile bashing Axl and/or the guys who are actually in the band now.

It's one thing to disagree, it is yet another to be disrespectful.

The problem with being disrespectful is that it needs to be kept in mind that this is Jarmo's site.  He's the one that started it and puts forth the effort in maintaining it.  Coming here and taking shots at him for how he runs the forum is tantamount to having someone invite you to their home only for you to put your feet on the dinner table and criticize them for how and what they made for dinner.

Merely disagreeing with someone is not being disrespectful, but taking shots at them is.  It is especially disrespectful when you come to someone's website to do that.

The bottom line is if you (the general you) don't like how this place is run then don't come and post here.  You have a choice.  You don't have to sit there and play the victim and whine about how this place is run.  You can make an empowered to choice to go somewhere else with different rules and with people who's mindsets are more in line with your own.

 Slash was a huge part of GNR. It doesnt matter that hes not in the band anymore. He is a major part of the history of GNR. Just because he is gone and just because you or me do not agree with what he says from time to time or arent to fond of his post gnr playing doesnt mean he cant be discussed or worshipped here.

Its like a sports figure leaving a team on rough terms after a successful run. Some will still be a fan of that player, some will hate, and most will appreciate the run and move on.

For me its about appreciating the old and the new. I have always said that 20+ yrs from now people will look back on gnr as an organization that offered 2 great chapters of musical excellence. The old and the new.
And 20 yrs from now when Im as wise as Jarmo, the kids who are listening to their music on some kind of crazy technology will realize that there was one common factor to both those eras of great music.....Axl Rose

Sure, I expect people who post here to be mainly Slash fans, but if those people assume that the rest of us are Slash fans and members of the Matt Sorum fan club, they're wrong.


This site is for GN'R fans. Period.

Not VR fans who like GN'R also, or Slash fans who like GN'R also.

Jarmo, I know college football is not big in Europe, but I will use it as an example.

This year there was a bias in the media that propped up certian conferences and said they were as good as the SEC and maybe better.  They pulled out old statistics and said that last years BCS title game where Ohio St. got waxed was a fluke.  Many picked Ohio St. to win the BCS title game this year against a different SEC opponent.  Ohio St. was blown out again.  2 years in a row.  The Bias was "pro" ohio st./big ten conference.  After the game, people admitted the SEC is a better conference. 

If someone after the game had said, "who cares Ohio St. got blown out 2 years in a row!  They are still the best team in the best conference!" than that would be dumb and stupid and loyal to a fault.  People should admit when they are defeated or wrong or whatever.  That is my point.  I expect this place to be pro GNR, but also have a rational objective voice everynow and then as well.

I don't think anyone really assumes that though.  There are just a few bad apples that love Axl and that love Slash.  The best posters realize the like one doesn't mean you must hate the other.

If you come to a fan site and expect objectivity, you're in the wrong place.

Nobody should get attacked because they choose to take the band's side versus the rest of the world's side.

You shouldn't get attacked for liking and supporting GN'R here. That's what some of the attention seekers are trying to do.

Calling people like me names such as ass kisser, Axlite, nutswinger and so on just because I chose to think that the GN'R crew has a better idea, of what they themselves are doing, than some journalist or a bitter poster.

They seem to assume that just because I believe in "the team", I must be naive and stupid and because they chose to not believe, they're objective and/or smart.


I don't really understand how these people work. They come to our place (this board), tell me how bad it is, how big of an asshole I am, start shit by attacking me instead of talking about the topics and then use the "I got banned for disagreeing" card when I kick them out.

I suggest these people try going to a restaurant or a night club with that attitude. Tell everybody there how much it sucks to be there, attack the manager/owner in public, make sure you make everybody else's time miserable, smoke where you're not supposed to and then use the "I got kicked out because I disagreed" card when you're escorted out.

What in the hell does this have to do with my analogy?  Ha!  I said it should be biased here, not that it should be truly objective.  Ha!     Bias and Stupidity are too different things.  We beleive in GNR, period.  Things here should be pro GNR and they are.  But ignoring the obvious because it might not be good for GNR is beyond bias, it falls to the deaf, dumb, and blind category.

Actually, in English, It is "This for that". I haven't made it to the end of the thread just yet, but for one who pretends to argue logically, you are are over the place. I wish that I had been paying more attention to this thread.

There are some valid arguments to be made, but you didn't come anywhere close. I have been "biting my tongue" through the last 8, or so pages, but I just couldn't take the pain anymore.
