Man Displays Meteorite With Image Of JesusCELINA, Texas -- An Abilene man who recently moved to Collin County said he wants to share his gift from the heavens with North Texans.
Terrance Cotton said he wished on what he thought was falling star outside his Abilene home while playing with his dogs. The object headed toward him at lighting speed, he said.
"There was this cracking sound, and it was really loud," Cotton said.
A meteorite crashed into his yard.
"I heard a voice, and it said, 'Look and see if you can see a face,'" he said. "And I looked, and I saw an image of Jesus Christ."
It made headlines in Abilene when it happened almost a year ago. Dozens of people come to his home to see it.
"I've had people look at it, and they can't look at it anymore; it's too much," Cotton said. "And I've had people come in and say they can't see it."
Cotton said he has seen the changes in his life. He is at peace, he said. He hopes the meteorite can be studied.
"I believe science needs to take a look at this and study it to see what it means," Cotton said.
He had scientists from Hardin Simmons University look at the meteorite and confirm it is real.
Several people have offered to buy it for thousands of dollars, Cotton said.
For some reason, I thought he would have an accompaniment of horns and trumpets
