I havent read them yet but Im goin to real soon, people on the Koontz message board rave about them though.
I enjoyed Odd Thomas but didn't care for Forever Odd as much.? ?
Thanks
I havent bought them yet, but it's a topic that interests me. I have to get caught up, I havent even started his Frankenstein books that I bought back in December yet

I just finished reading Stephen King's "Cell." I've always been a huge Stephen King fan, but this one was adisappointing to me. The ending...meh. It was an ok read...just not up there with his best.

I'm gonna start reading the Cat Who series by Lilian Jackson Braun.
The Cat Who Could Read Backwards is first on the list.

I've read a few of those in the past. Of course, I'll read just about anything. I don't remember them as being that great.

I haven't started the Cat series yet. I'm not sure if I will, it's just the thought of a cat solving crimes intrigued me for a second. But it's probably not something I want to get into.
I'm reading Scar Tissue by Anthony Kiedis with Larry Sloman. It's an awesome book, and very honest.

Bag Of Bones by Stephen King. It started getting really good on page 475. His books would be so much better if he'd just write about the story. If he cut out the needless shit the book would have been about 400 pages instead of 700. But the second half of the book was fantastic.
4 out of 5 stars.

I agree with you to a certain extent, but when it an anecdote or some story that has nothing to do with the plot comes right in the middle of a scene and carries on for a page or two, that pisses me off. He's not as bad the guy who wrote Cold Mountain (that was friggin tedious) but it does slow down the book.
Hell House by Matheson (King's hero) is perfect a horror novel. He manages to keep the story going, while filling in details at the same time, perfectly.

Try "Sleeper" sometime. One of the greatest graphic novels I've ever read.

King is perfect.
what seperates him from Koontz and other authors is how "REAL" the characters are.
Everyone character even the minor characters are so described that u have a connection with every character not just the main character and it makes it more memorable and more emotional when things happen.
Christine the book is fuckin unbelievable.
I vaguely remember the movie but the book is beyond words.
Not sure Id rank it above "The Stand" Or "The Shining" but its pretty damn close.
I am 300 pages in and have about 226 left, right now its impossible to put down.

Stop reading novels NOW. You're bound to be disappointed...
Try some modern free verse if you yearn for material that's skeletal and condensed.

I've been pushing that book for years!
So tell me, was it a random pickup, or have you been reading Pratchett all along and only now decided to come out of your shell and tell?

You couldn't just leave it at Koontz, could ya?

I've had a friend pushing the Terry Pratchett books on me for awhile. I read "Good Omens" and stopped there. I was afraid that it couldnt get better after that one.

Koontz is no Clive Barker.
And if you like reading a really good scene and King breaks off about a storm that happened in 1912 that has no friggin point or value, then be my guest. I'm all for back stories, but not in the middle of a scene.
Greatest writer ever: Eddie Little.
