Finished UFC Fighter Chuck Liddell's autobiography


I have about 50 pages left on Salem's Lot and Yesterday I bought Stephen King's newest novel "Duma Key" which I will start in the next few days.

I am currently reading Duma Key and I am halfway through the book and Axl has been mentioned twice already!  I know I have seen other references in his books as well.  King must be quite the fan!

Yes! Im about half way through now and I love the Axl references. What do u think of it so far? I think it has been very good.

I am a bit more than 3/4 through and I am still loving it.  Did you read Lisey's Story?  I enjoyed that one too even though it differs from the King norm.

My father-in-law lent me the Pete Rose bio titled Pete Rose.  I want to finish Dreams from my Father first before I start it up.

Bandita, I'll get my wife to read Lisey's Story...she enjoyed Duma Key, but she wasn't nuts about it.  Deaver's tops on her list right now though.

Just finishing a book called women under control, it's about mentally violent men and mental domestic violence.

Good read. It talks of women who are mentally violent too, not just men.

Just finished the Pete Rose autobiography.  The man belongs in the goddamn Hall of Fame.  It's a very interesting book.

Just read The Two Minute Rule by Robert Crais.
I liked it, it was clever with some good twists. Also recently read Velocity by Dean Koontz.
I've read two or three of his books and this one is unique and quite good.

I have really enjoyed Duma Key so far

Its really different than a lot of King books but it has been a nice paced great piece of storytelling.


I just preordered the 4th installment of Dean Koontz' "Odd Thomas" Series. I love this series and everyone should read these books.

They are great reads.

Richard Price's "Lush Life" and "Samaritan."  A fantastic author, also one of the writers on HBO's "The Wire."  Amazing urban-crime fiction, and utterly fantastic when it comes to interpersonal relationships and dialogue.

Last thing I read was the play, "Mulatto" by Langston Hughes. It's very powerful and moving, sad too. Full of symbolism as well. Excellente.

Getting ready to start "The Language of Fear". I've been wanting this book for a long time. Really glad it was re-released.

bought Jeffery Deaver's "The Sleeping Dolls"

Axl4prez turned me on to this guy and the book I read was fantastic, I read a review of this novel and had to run out and purchase it.

I will start it after Dean Koontz' "Odd Hours"

I'm currently reading Can't Find My Way Home: America in the Great Stoned Age 1945-2000 by Martin Torgoff.
It shows how drugs have permeated American culture and focuses on the various cultures from the jazz age to the growing hippie
counter-culture of the 1960s to more recently ecstasy (MDMA) and the growing addiction to prescription drugs. It's very non-judgmental
and shows each culture through the eyes of the people who lived and loved it the most. It also shows the hypocritical attitude that certain
groups have had throughout time. I strongly recommend it. It's a pretty tough read just because of the wealth of information thrown at you
and the material covered (around 700 pages). But it recommends a lot of great music and whether you are pro/anti drugs, it will give you a
new perspective, and hopefully promote an open and honest dialogue about drugs that Torgoff so deeply desires.

just gotten my hands on "the catcher in the rye" 

Catcher in the Rye is the greatest book of all time, in my opinion. I LOVE that book. Sometimes when I'm bored I just flip to a random page and start reading, and it always entertains me. Holden Caulfield is my hero.

I recently just finished reading Survivor by Chuck Paluhniuk. It was a pretty good book--- very weird, of course. I enjoyed the second half more than the first. Paluhniuk has a very interesting writing style that makes for an easy, entertaining read. I enjoy his dark sense of humor. The only other Paluhniuk book I've read is Choke, which was just so-so . . . Survivor's much better.

Has anyone here read Jack Ketchum's The Girl Next Door?

Palahniuk is the greatest.  I just finished Snuff.  Not his best, but still good.  I think Lullaby and Haunted are his best. Rant was really good also.
