Right now I am reading The Talisman by Stephen King and Peter Straub-a bit out of order since I already read Black House last year.

I just finished reading scar tissue by Anthony Kiedis. I really enjoyed it, had been meaning to check it out since it came out a few years back. Falls into many of the same traps for relapse as Slash says he did in his book. A lot of interesting paralells as far as addiction goes if you have read both books. You feel like screaming when they're on the wagon for so long and describe the hell of withdrawl and use again for some stupid reason.

If you liked school, you'll love work - Irvine Welsh. A collection of short stories, funny and filthy, with interesting characters. One of my fav. authors.
The Stuff of Thought - Steven Pinker. Using language to study how the mind works. Not easy going but fascinating.

Krick?Krack? by Edwige Danticat. A collection of short stories I must read and study to get my diploma. The first story (Children of the Sea) is fucking compelling. Two Haitian lovers who've been parted by bad circumstances write a sort of long letter to each other.
The story is created by those two hopeless characters' letters that tell about everyday life in a country where everything goes wrong. Both lovers have the hinsight they'll never meet each other again, therefore they are not afraid to tell all about their current life. I knew a things about Haiti but this story was like a brick in my face
I had no idea about things that soldiers did to families there in the 90ies. Pretty disgusting.
And it's maybe still going on...
I finished Auster's Country of the Last Things a couple days ago. One of the best books ever!
In some ways, Danticat's short story reminds me of Auster's book.

Just finished Six Sacred Stones by Matthew Reilley. Ends on a fucking cliffhanger.
I'm for a good series of books as much as the next guy, hell I LOVE the Ian Irvine series (I'm up to like book 11), but you have to give us advance warning. When you get to the last 50 pages and suddenly realise the hero ain't gonna be able to finish everything in time it's kinda shitty.

Great book. It's an excellent re-read for those of you who read it back in high school. It's kinda funny too what almost 2 decades of living can do to your view of Holden. In high school I could identify with him. Now, as a "grown-up" I sometimes wish I was there to knock some sense into him. It's a wonderful book and a must-read for adolescents.
I am currently reading The Audacity of Hope by Barack Obama. It's a quick read and I'm about 30% through it. Excellent read so far.

cool, i don't know anything about the book tbh.. my english teacher said that we should start read books and since i'm not a big reader i said i couldn't find a book.. within a minute she found the book for me (she and i have a strange relationship, we hate each other, but english is my best subject and i'm the best in the class) when she handed me the book she said "i think you should read this" when i saw the title i immeadiatly said "yeah give me it" then she changed her mind
but i refused to give it back
so now i'm gonna read it

I am currently reading Duma Key and I am halfway through the book and Axl has been mentioned twice already! I know I have seen other references in his books as well. King must be quite the fan!

ever since i saw the movie Gone Baby Gone, and found out that its based on a book from the Kenzie-Gennaro private eye series, by Dennis Lehane (also author of Mystic River) i've decidied to read them and they are awesome.
just read A Drink Before The War, first book in the series and a solid read, finished it in less than a week.
i also just read the next book in the series, Darkness Take My Hand, which was fantastic, not only was it gripping and suspenseful, but it was emotionally heavy and quite heartbreaking.
i'm now on the third book, Sacred.
next, is Gone Baby Gone
