« on: November 24, 2007, 06:03:50 PM »

Need abit of help please.  Ive just been playing for a year and today i bought a cry baby wah wah pedal and I cant seem to figure out how to set it up with my line 6 amp.  I push the button and it either has muffled nuthing sound which I assume is just off and of course the other way which has good sound but rocking it back and forth seems to little effect on the sound.  Im not doing something right, any help would be appreciated, thanks

When engaged, the pedal should make your sound a bit muffled when at the minimum setting (heel all the way down) and a bit screamy at the other extreme. If there is no effect on the sound when you rock back and forth, the pedal is most likely broken. Is it like this on clean as well as distorted channels? Are you sure you're using it properly? It takes a short while to get used to it. You need to pick and then move your foot (kind of...) - it's a matter of timing.

Do you have any other pedals? Put a distortion before the wah and crank it as much as you can. Turn down the distortion on the amp - this will overpower most pedals. Play an E chord and rock the wah back and forth. You should really notice a great change in sound from heel to toe. Then, when you know whether it works or not, change things around a bit and work on getting good sounds from it.

Its brand new pedal I just bought,  You hit the button once an all I hear is a very low sounding clean sound, rocking back forth on it changes nothing.  I hit the botton again the sound is normal distortion, rocking back and forth cjanges nothing again.     The amp is set on distortion and the guitar is plugged into the pedal and pedal is plugged into amp.  I have no other pedals and all effects on amp are turned off

Maybe you should check the batteries before...

I thought that too, but the Crybaby isn't true bypass, so it shouldn't work even when not engaged if the battery is dead or out.

Maybe its low battery, but not dead at all yet. That would explain the bypass still working.

I dunno, wouldn't do any harm to check it before. Smiley

*Feels dumb*  Actually it would help if I plugged in each to the correct side.

Ive went through 2 pedals, never could get either to work for more than a couple months before they tore up.

I recently spent some extra cash and bought a Slash Dunlop Crybaby

So im hoping it will be more durable.

Im definitely saving the receipt as I have no luck with them.
