going on late is totally part of the act.? the wait is always better than the opening band. its just classic. i took the book as axl is strictly business and the other guys were just rock and roll.

He just wanted to play guitar and tour.? He admits that in all the downtime that the band engaged in after the UYI tours, he became fixed into the drugs again because that was his way to cope.? So why stay someplace if you're not having fun anymore doing it?? Why stay if if this thing is causing you so much grief that you have to resort to drugs and alcohol just to cope with it.?

I have no problems with that explanation.

If you're unhappy about something, you do something about it. That's normal.

But to me the whole "I would've ended up founding heroin again" or "I would be dead if I had stayed" is a bit of an easy answer.

So the guy quit the band and everything should be great.

Five years later he almost dies while he's in Snakepit v.2.

Ten years later he's hooked on OxyContin while he's in VR.

Maybe it's just me and I'm not an expert on addictions, but I think what band he's in at the time doesn't really mean that much regards to his addictions.

I didn't read the book.? Does Slash explain why the FOUR of them didn't stand up to the ONE and just not give him the control?? Is it because the four of them thought that without what Axl brought, they'd be just another mediocre band?

Quote
I think he says something about how hard it is to find a great singer.....

Yeah, He also said in other interviews that he just did what he'd always done "And just kept the thing Rolling", By doing what ever it took. It was his livelyhood, I guess without Axl it would be over, but I guess it was over anyway.

Were they intimidated? Scared? Or just thought Axl was in charge?
Not really sure? Good question!

Did Axl Leave Guns N' Roses to form a new band under the same name, like Slash said?

Ehm, no?

You know, maybe the bigger mistake was not - not standing up to Axl, but that Axl needed someone to stand up to him.  I know Axl has a plan, maybe if someone questioned it everynow and then and said, "no Axl, that isn't how its gonna be" and dropped the hammer he would see the other side maybe?  I am not talking about just Slash and Duff, but I think his whole life a lot of people have been someone intimidated, minus Zakk Wylde.

That was a great read.  I remember that interview.  Crazy.  I wish we could hear from those sessions that Axl speaks so highly of.  I know Axl's intent, but its hard to imagine how that could go over well.  Obviously Slash felt he didn't need help from Paul and took offense from Slash.  Oh well.  Ego's and stuff.

I know its impossible being around drunks and drug addicts, so I absolutely sympathize and can understand where Axl is coming from there.

If he really said that to Slash about "Glad U didnt Die,  I would've had to find a new guitar player" Or something like that, that would've been pretty damn cold.

I think its cool how Slash stuck up for Axl over the Weiland incident.

In all fairness, and I have read that part, there is no indication that wasn't a sarcastic remark.

Well, the point is that in reading that passage Slash never says one way or the other if he thought Axl was being serious.  So you can't really tell, but I'm raising the possibility that maybe it was a sarcastic remark.  Something to bring some levity to the situation and break the tense mood.

I can't believe I am back in this section.

But as I said before, this is very common practice among drug addicts, whether they're rock stars or just street dwellers.

I have known many addicts, and this is not a common practice, but it does happen. Many addicts resort to dealing to support their habits.

All you people saying 'It's just some errors ...

I have made some comments in this thread, but they involved the incredularity that some posters espoused concerning the aforementioned errors. Factual errors should always be noted, ... and widely distributed.

No, he mentions leaving a letter to Axl to "his assistant".

Please, someone..

If Axl really did this blackmailing after GNR control back in the `90s, wouldn't that be ilegal? I mean, Slash and Duff could say that they were forced to sign something against their will. I guess that never happened, right?

Maybe because it was a partnership between all the original members back then (Slash, Duff and Axl). If two of them leaves, the other one keeps the rights.

From what I see, the band didn't break up, but rather they just left Axl alone. That's why he became the owner, like if it's a company.

Maybe someone could explain better to me, but that's how I see it.
