There Was A Time Appreciation Thread
«

I'm sure this has been posted a dozen times or more but I just wanted to add my 2 cents in....
...what a hell of a song....some of the greatest guitar work with vocal harmonization I'v ever heard! (if that's a word)
Anyway....that song alone warrants a release of the album....10 out of 10....a true classic...

Better and TWAT are the 2 best reasons to release CD IMHO. Great tune. I was disappointed to hear the changes they made in the beginning in the latest demo to come out, but still a great song nevertheless.

TWAT, even in the form of various leaked demos, is one of GN'R's best songs, past or present. Take that one to heart

I would say out of all the new material TWAT is my favorite by a mile. And that's not knocking CITR, blues, Better, etc. it's just that I think TWAT is that great a song.

Been listening to this song a LOT lately, so it's funny this thread pops up now. The solos in the song...my lord, stunning work.

Oh no, another There Was a Time appreciation thread...cue my Axl4Prez sob story in 3...2...1..."yes, when I first heard the song, I got teary-eyed."
It's that good. The fact that this is only a demo means the song, a classic already, will be unstoppable in final form. I can't wait!!!! Okay, I have and I can...but I'm looking forward to that eventual Tuesday.

The lyrics are really great and the solo is just amazing, however I thought the latest (unfinished) version wasn't as good as earlier ones. I'm sure the final mix will be great though.

Great great song...
solos are amazing...
rythm is amazing...
Axl's screams in the end are incredible...
Best new song in my opinion... I think it should be ChiDem's last track...

A perfect track to end an album. Mostly because it's so great it would be almost impossible to follow. I always have trouble thinking of a song to listen to after listening to it.

You may say I'm too much obsessed with the current GNR lineup, but I must say that TWAT is not for me only the best of the new GNR songs, but also the best of them all, all GNR song catalogue. I think it's definitely a masterpiece, and the extended instrumental outro is one of the best pieces of music I've ever heard.
To add something more, I must also say that 5 of the new songs, in this order:
1) TWAT 2) CD 3) Madagascar 4) The Blues 5) Better
are in my all time top 10 GNR songs. Cant wait to hear the final versions

whats wrong with the intro?
i like how it kinda sounds like they recorded that lil' bit in a rain forest when the birds are cherping, i think thats a plus imo. Like they're "returning to the jungle" if you will

Hands down my favorite of what we have heard . The song gives off that epic guns vibe , ala NR and estranged.

when i first heard this song it reminded me of estranged right away.
easily the best song of all the new ones thus far. the other ones just don't stand up as well over time.

I have to agree with what everyone else is saying here. The first time I downloaded it I listened to it about 40 times in one day. I do like the older (but not the oldest) demo the most, but regardless of incarnation, it is a great tune

I like the fanmade "angel" sound TWAT that was going around, instead of the newest Pitman one. LOVE the song though, and it should be on the album!

it's a good song, but as said it's not the final, and I can see why.
for one, it's damn chaotic!
all the instruments are at wrong places making a big blur.
