Sorry guys, but i can't understand how some people self-called fans can refuse to sign a petiton to get GN'R in RIR...

Just imagine that Mr. Medina could get GN'R and VR in RIR, at the same day....  you would refuse to go to the show due to VR? 

Because having GNR play RIR does nothing for us american fans...how about signing a petition to release the album~

If your friend is going to put a petition together, have it be for something that actually has a chance of happening and will be taken seriously. And if the petition is to have more rock music at Rock in Rio, why not state that instead of beating around the bush by suggesting that Velvet Revolver play the same day as GNR? This just seems too unfocused to be taken seriously. Also, you might want to suggest to your friend to touch up the English a bit b/c a casual fan that speaks only English who happens to come across this won't have any idea what this petition is trying to get across. Just some suggestions ...

the person who started this petition is not taking into account how much it costs to get a band to play a certain festival..a few hundred people signing a petition doesnt have anything to do with money and travel that the road crew, stage hands, promoters, musicians need..plus GNR is not toruing in spring 2008 so it makes no sense for them to pick up and leave home to go across the world for one concert, especially when they have played over 100 concerts in the last 18 months......its called reality.......and selfish is demanding GNR come play your hometown when they just played  a million shows in the last 18 months....

I don't think there would be a riot, as long as Axl can stay calm and "mature."

Though, Axl wants NOTHING AT ALL to do with the original band, obviously. I doubt it will ever happen, but all the more power to you for making the petition. :]

I signed it CryGirl ... hopefully the RIR peeps will see the interest in having them back! If they do, let's just hope the broadcast doesn't have as shitty of a mix as the 2006 show. ?

I'm looking forward to GN'R playing Rock In Rio 2008. Artists will be announced shortly. That gives the band plenty of time to get their act together, get their plans mapped out and finally release the album. GN'R playing Rock In Rio 2008, the new Indiana Jones movie, new Batman movie and a few other things could shape up to make Summer 2008 the best summer of my life.

... but i think you are wrong about the purpose of this petition ... It is obvious that if GNR doesn't release Chd in the next few month, following that release with a tour, then it would make no sense to have GNR at RIR2008.... with or without VR .... neither you and me are able to say if ChD will be released? soon ... but, if RIR organization find the idea interesting and contact the band, they will certainly get some conclusions .... this is just a petition .... It is not an obligation for the band to get in RIR if it isn't viable...

 I don?t see whats the whole problem of this petition guys... just slow down. Rock in Rio is a festival which lasts some 4 days with many bands playing in it. Just because Velvet are on the petition it doesn?t mean they will play in the same day as Guns!

and ppbebe I?m almost like 100% sure that Metallica will be playing next year?s RiR (they were already in the 04 one and when they came to Lisbon in June this year they stated they?d come back next year to promote their upcoming album)... so I?m sure they have already been contacted. The only band I don?t see playing in RiR (at least the Lisbon one) is Velvet Revolver. Guess by next summer they will just play some English fests or something... But who knows? Let?s wait and see!
