Maybe wrong section, idk...but I feel like talking about it.

The way I interpret it, Estranged and Pearl Jam's Black have very similar meanings.  Both are about not being loved back by the one you love.  However, they are told in different ways: Estranged has a more depressed look on it (however there are a few lines that would show some hope to the future) and how you're just gonna have to deal with it, while Black expresses the beauty of it yet you can feel the anger.

Both are really beautiful songs, possibly the best by each band.  What are your thoughts on the two?

I thought Nov. Rain was about unrequited love and Estranged is about after the break up

Not necessarily, even though November Rain is about unrequited love, so is Estranged. November Rain is just telling about it, and Estranged is acknowledging the facts of it and having to figure out what to. I'm not framiliar w/Black so I don't know if we can really compare the 2 songs, so who knows.

I love both bands, for different reasons, of course- the sound and voices are completly different...
But I do see a great point there and a funny and very interesting similarity. yes

For those who don't know much about Pearl Jam, you should at least try to listen to this one song, Black.
I'm sure you would be surprised! Smiley

I loved Pearl Jam when they first came out.  It was them and GNR for me.  When GNR went into hiding I thought I was all set because Pearl Jam was pumping out albums every few years.  But after Vitalogy they started to lose me.  I bought their next 2 albums but was less impressed with each of them.  Really haven't paid much attention to them since.  Still love the old stuff though, "Black" is a very solid song.

If you're waiting...don't. Live your life. That's your responsibility not mine. If it were not to happen you won't have missed a thing. If in fact it does you might get something that works for you.

Cool, it's quite the same feeling, when you talk about the first years. Smiley
I think they are much stronger now, with great lyrics too.
And to watch them live... uff... surely one of the best feelings I've ever had in my life.
It's like a celebration of life, of music, I don't know but it feels real good.
