Is there anyone who became a diehard of vr when they heard slither or any vr song?
"Slither" sold me on the idea of a band with a separate identity but The Project/VR was brought to my attention based on their prior associations.
I liked the song too but I seem to have preferred white stripes songs and kasabian songs then.
and as far as I can see VR hasn't made a song that surpasses slither.
I'm a fan of music before being a fan of GNR so I hope musicians eclipse their former selves. probably that's why I love GNR.

Kasabian?
that just says...too much.
American Man, it surpasses Slither, you're welcome.

Generally speaking, I find VR much more interesting than UYI era GNR. More of a lack of interest in that era of GNR I suppose as opposed to an overwhelming interest in VR.

I only find them more interesting than Spaghetti Incident era GNR, and I love both contraband and libertad

"American Man" surpasses "Slither"?
You can't possibly be serious with that type of comment.

knowing what axl is capable of producing means i will never find VR more interesting than GnR, unless they acutally push themselves to get the kind of creativity the core members had during GnR's illusion sessions.

.. lets hear UYI era gnr fans opinions.
I can't imagine too many UYI era fans having more than remote interest in VR, they're pretty much the antithesis of that part of GNR's history.

You know falcon, on UYI 1, there is some badass shit on there. Don't Damn Me for one is a song that still sounds fresh and current for somereason. Its like the UYI albums are so big I still discover new things about them. And for groove and jam, does anything top Locomotive. So while UYI can be big and bloated and commercial, there are more than enough diamonds in there than hold their own.
You Got No Right, does everyone forget that song? Ha.

Me too. I found the UYI albums disappointing. Let's face it, nobody has come close to Appetite - not even GNR themselves. The stand out tracks on UYI were all, in my opinion, written earlier. You Could Be Mine, Don't Cry, November Rain, Bad Obsession... they all existed before. If you look at the gigs they played on the UYI tour, most of the tracks are from Appetite or written around that period. In the name of research:
Paris, 6th June 1992
It?s So Easy (AFD)
Mr. Brownstone (AFD)
Live And Let Die (cover)
Attitude (cover)
Bad Obsession (written earlier)
Always On the Run (cover, kind of)
Double Talkin? Jive (UYI)
Civil War (written earlier, kind of)
Wild Horses (Intro)
Patience (Lies)
You Could be Mine (written earlier)
It?s Alright (cover)
November Rain (written earlier)
Drum Solo
Guitar Solo
Godfather Theme
(Intro) / Sweet Child O? Mine (AFD)
Welcome To The Jungle (AFD)
Only Women Bleed
Knockin? On Heaven?s Door (cover)
Mama Kin (cover)
Train Kept A Rollin? (cover)
Don?t Cry (written earlier)
Mother (Intro)
Paradise City (AFD)
...It seems that even GNR themselves realise that AFD was their best stuff too!
I feel that VR is better than what GNR put out on the UYI albums and since.

In a somewhat related topic, I wonder if Axl and Slash have any chance of not being tied together? Regardless of how well each do with their new respective projects, I just don't see either eclipsing or escaping their prior connection. Sort of like they are the our generations version of Mick and Keith or Steven Tyler and Joe Perry...

Don't Damn Me is one of my all time favorite Gn'R songs, if not the best.
UYI1 had some great rockers on it; Don't Damn Me, Garden of Eden, RNDTH, Coma, Back off Bitch, Double Talkin' Jive, Bad Obsession, Perfect Crime, Dust n' Bones.. wow it was a great album. Throw on November Rain and Don't Cry as the ballads, and wow.
