It would appear to be so, but I'll contact the publisher to see whether it's really the case or not.

I'd hope so - I'm probably going to order this regardless, but full versions of SBD quality tracks from '83-'86? If that doesn't scream "FUCKING AMAZING" then I don't know what does!  ok

Pretty cool video trailer: http://gnrfrance.free.fr/video/reckless-road-trailer.mov (right-click and Save as...)

Pretty cool audio samples too (but very short): http://gnrfrance.free.fr/audio/reckless-road-sample01.mp3 and http://gnrfrance.free.fr/audio/reckless-road-sample02.mp3 (converted from aiff to mp3)

Is this Video clip out there in another format?  (I can't seem to view Real Player stuff - ever)

Flee the scene...

« Reply #95 on: July 30, 2007, 09:05:52 AM »

Just bought the Axl cover, considering he's all that's left I thought it appropriate. I am excited about this book. I have to say, and this isn't trying to be a troll, I seriously felt the Slash cover was more GN'R to me than any of the others and I felt bummed for a minute with that realization. I am not even a huge Slash fan, I never bought into Snakepit and I thing VR is generic and boring. But the image of Slash for me is a big part of the GN'R identity still to this day. I know Axl can make amazing GN'R songs with the new guys, and to me it's still GN'R.? Regardless, those old days must have been mind blowing to experience. I always thought the reunion talks were a waste of time but even I must admit watching that trailer made me long to see the originals together again.

It would appear to be so, but I'll contact the publisher to see whether it's really the case or not.

Here's the official word directly from the publisher:

"We want to make each book have clear additional value beyond a printed book. Reckless Road will have additional material on each two page spread.
Sometimes audio. Sometimes video, or both. They will average 30 to 60 seconds some longer. We have over 5,000 images from this "story" of which we only placed around 1,000 in the printed book. I'm estimating there will be another 400 images included for every registered owner. Plus there are some surprises for the book owners and fans that.... well, we just have to wait.

(...)

By the way we are producing a Reckless Road Video and Audio version of the book. Both will have their own merits and their own unique value. Besides the photo archive I think we have some 12 hours of new high definition video, 100 hours of original audio and 20 hours of original, low tech late 80's style video.
The stuff is cool BTW."

(bold mine)

So the samples will stay samples, but we'll have more and on top of that hundreds more pics for those who buy the book. Sounds pretty cool to me!
I'm guessing they won't share all the audio and video material (lol), but probably some on those video and audio versions. Can't wait to get those too! I'll see with him if they have clearance from the band (I think they do from Slash and Duff since the photographer is a friend of Slash...but from Axl??), and also if it'll be available in stores outside the US (except online of course).

Can't wait 'til september!

this for sure will be a very nice release, awesome. i have a little problem with the trailer though....Marc Canter says exactly this in there:

"when someone's open this book and starts to read it i want them to feel that they are there live watching the show!"

nice idea but aint it way easier to get this feeling when releasing some of the "20 hours of original, low tech late 80's style video"?? ok
