If you're not a rock star - at least act like one

I was walking in the by Swedish standards large town of Uppsala with some fresh beers in my bag when I suddenly halted: "That sounds familiar... ". Out from a "Jack n Jones" clothes shop I hear: PRETTY TIED UP! I mean... a GNR song unknown to common people on the street in 2003, that's fantastic  Grin

You mean that we have McDonalds? Wink

We have two.....  [hihi]

But that's a weird place to hear a GN'R song, especially something that isn't a hit or anything like that. Hearing Sweet Child O' Mine or November Rain wouldn't been weird at all, but New Rose?

I go to a BodyPump class at my gym twice a week (it's a cardio-barbell class set to music, it originates from Australia). Anyway, they usually play Sweet Child O Mine during the bench press track--it's gotten to a point that whenever I hear SCOM, I feel like doing bench presses.  [rofl] Although recently they've dropped SCOM in favour of Christina Aguilera's Dirty song.  Angry

Today I happened to catch a glimpse of a show about local news in 2003.

It was a look at the biggest "local" (local as in Western Sweden) news that had happened during 2003. One of the stories was about this small town building a concert hall for several million Swedish Krona. The town is located out on the "prairie" and they have a nicer concert hall than we do.  confused

Anyway, they were showing clips of kids using the stages and on one of them this band was playing a song.... It was Welcome To The Jungle.  Grin

By the looks of it, those guys couldn't have been old when Appetite For Destruction was released.

I was at my fav bar here in Cologne just two hours ago, sippin a few drinks with a friend. When we walked in they played You Could Be Mine. Then they played Creed (I hate that band) and I complained and said to my buddy something like: "Snakepit would be cool now. Lives Sweet Drug or Serial Killer." And after Creed, as if they read my mind, they played Serial Killer, The Truth and Landslide. Last week they played nearly the entire UYI II. The owner loves GN'R as much as I do. Sometimes I carry GN'R members solo records with me (Gilby, Izzy, Bucket, etc.) and most times I ask they play it.
Location: "The Cave", Kyffh?user Str., near Barbarossaplatz. If you ever visit Cologne, go there! You'll love it!

Thanks, Jarno! Are these songs popular out there or are they as "alternative" as Pretty Tied Up?
As I said, in Brazil everybody knows So Fine and Used to Love Her, but just a few are familiar to PTU.

I heard Estranged the other day on one of the major rock stations by where I live.  It was a Cleveland based station I believe.  Its kind of weird to hear that particular song on the radio because its so long and is rarely ever played.  GN'R gets a lot of love on the radio around here.  Songs I hear everday on the radio are, wttj, brownstone, pardise, sweet child and nov. rain.  smoking smoking

I found myself in this bar one night, there were pole dancers in there. Anyway, I got chatting to one of these pole dancers and before I knew it (about 6 or 7 drinks later) she offered me a special dance and asked me what song would I like. Well I thought for a moment, I was trying to think of a long song. So I said November Rain, she said ok, she would have to go check with the DJ (so see if he had November Rain). She returned to me some moments later, the DJ didn?t have November Rain, although he did have Since I Don?t Have You (that?ll do I said). The funny thing is, she laughed, that song, November Rain, it goes on for some time, I replied, yeah I know with a big grin on my face. That was a good night? ok
