So, I wouldn't want to do anything for CD to come out this year. It's too late to increase GN'R's popularity so sales would suck.

Yeah people will buy it but it's very important in the music business that a whole lot of people buy the album in the first weeks it's out. That's the only way to get some real attention.
You have to prepare the public, release a single and video, have Rolling Stone review the album, anounce a new tour, appear at some lame-ass shows, do some interviews. Shit like that.
