My submission Wild Turkey 101 ... no cheatin' either : I'm drinkin' "nea"t, no ice or anything else:

first taste: I taste a lot of honey(no cheatin), with that "almost buttery" flavor, a little of apple, and of course, just a bit of leather.

second(mid) any time I ever try that "whiskey tastin", I always get drunkered'n shit. Goddamn, two or three,
OK, on the back, on the back, ... are you shitin' me. Whiskey ain't got a goddamn thang to do with shit.

I haven't had Dalwhinnie for quite some time, but I do recall that I enjoyed it.  Glad to hear you've enjoyed Lagavulin, too.

I started the night off with Ridgemont Reserve ... it is about 94?, around 8 year old. this is some good shit. All the sweetness one would expect from a good Bourbon ... fruity, with a little mint, no leather ... smooth as silk.

Now it is Knob Creek(Clermont's finest)100?, 9 year old. I think I burnt my taste buds out, but here goes ... compared to the Ridgemont, there is a little leather, on the nose, it is fruity with noticeable traits of butternut. the butter follows through on the front with an almost walnut? in the mid, with a moderate amount of honey. In the Back ... the honey is obvious with a warm soothy feeling(hey, that reminds me of my ex-wife, if it only tasted as good)

Conclusions: the KB has a little more leather, and is not as sweet, but what is to be expected.

Old Rip Van Winkle 107?, 10 year old. It has a someshat fruity bouquet with sweet hints on the front. Mid- butter comes on strong. I'm tasting a little honey now, but my taste buds  were burnt out earlier in the evening. little or no leather, and it doesn't linger.


I know there is some liquor drinkers on this forum, make your preferences known.

It is a good begginers whiskey. It is the one that I recommend most commonly to those who are "uninitiated". However, rarely is it on a connoiseur's list of 10 best Bourbons.
