I am bout to buy a new computer and I have a HUGE question.

The computer i have now runs on XP Professional, I need this program on my new computer but my new computer only comes with that new VISTA shit.

Pro Tools I have heard is not compatible with Vista yet, So when I get my new computer, How can I blank the Vista and install The XP Professional disc I already have?

can U do that? Or do the discs only work with one computer?

havent tried it, but I guess, all you'll need to do is put your XP cd in, and format the vista partition (or make a new partition if you still wish to keep vista).

the xp will work on both pcs as long as you have the right serial number...

If you really don't want vista you can change it to xp, I did on 2 new machines.  XP Pro with 1 and XP Media on the other.  Sometimes or I'm sure anytime you try to reuse the cd serial number it is found to be in use already.  I reused XP PRO on an old PC and couldn't update anything and it eventually it wouldn't run right with newer programs and got slower and slower.  Good Luck

There are ways to update with a serial key in use, but it takes some searching of the internet and is probably not entirely legal. However, if you own the XP software (and have wiped it off your old computer) then you could always call Microsoft and have them give you a new CD Key. I believe they will do so up to 5 times (for situations when you need to replace your hard drive, format, etc.).

I'm sure you'd hear debates on both sides. The biggest detracting factor I've heard about Vista is its compatability issues with hardware (and I guess some software). You'd definitely want to make sure all your hardware (video card, sound card, etc.) is compatible before upgrading
