Their best works is still coming, where as others' best work is in the past....
That will be awfully impressive considering that AFD is regarded as possibly the greatest Rock N' Roll album of all-time, which according to your theory means that CD is going to supplant it as the new greatest rock n' roll record of all time. Failure to do so according to your theory means that like many other artists, the members of GNR's best work is also in their past. Just being less mediocre than other artists when compared to your best work doesn't seem like much of a prize to me. I thought my expectations for CD were high, but yours blow mine out of the water.
You don't make much sense.
Nowhere did I make comparisons to any previous GN'R albums. I only pointed out that I believe Richard's, Robin's and Ron's best work is coming.
So therefor, they shouldn't feel bad about being compared to something that came out 20 years ago. The future looks bright.
If you read all these polls etc, it seems like Slash hasn't produced a great solo since 1991.....
Which also happens to be what many GN'R fans think (notice how I didn't say Slash fans?).

Poll from
ultimate-guitar.com
08. Guns N' Roses ? "November Rain" (Slash)
Never mind that the song holds the record for the longest guitar solo in a U.S. Top-10 hit?without all of Slash's hard work you would pretty much be listening to
an Elton John tune.
True enough, but I'd like to make 2 points here:
1) If you listen to the NR demo, you can basically hear the rough parts of what becomes Slash's solo in the piano melody. I'm not taking anything away from it, or claim to know which part inspired which, but it is there
2) No Elton John song I've ever heard, gets as intense as the ending of November Rain

Why do you feel for the guys? Sure, they didn't write those great riffs and solos but they get to play them night after night (when they tour anyway). If they didn't like the music I'm sure they wouldn't play the old songs.
And it's only logical that new albums get compared to the old albums. It's like that for all bands and artists. They knew what they were getting into and that's probably one of the reasons why it takes so long to release Chinese Democracy.

Not to start a fight, but can some of u see what kind of fight the new GNR guitarists are in for once CD comes out? Their stuff is gonna be compared *Fairly or not* to some of the greatest riffs and solos in rock history.................
I feel for the guys.

I disagree with a lot of the songs on that list... including November Rain. They are brilliant songs, the solos don't 'make them a classic'.
There is one in there that should have topped the list though, and that is Skynyrd's Freebird. That solo is just about the most intense build-up of a monster ever and it IS the song.

Regardless, Slash is the only GNR guitarist on this list.

And the only GNR lead guitarist to have recorded works released under GNR. The other guitarists hardly have any released recorded material that made an impact on popular culture.

Oi dicks, I'm giving reasons why they wouldn't be in the list. I'm STICKING UP FOR THEM. I have read their bios - are you trying to tell me they come from bands that are as 'important' to popular music (which this list is obviously looking at) as any band on that list?

And there are some killer solos on "Ain't life grand?"!!!
If you read all the polls etc, it seems like Axl hasn't produced a great album since 1991...

I didn't know that. Could you give me the story behind it?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stairway_to_Heaven
Why isn't Sweet Child O' Mine in there? It has a longer solo than NR.
it does? won't say anything for sure, but wouldn't NR's 3 solos be longer in total than the one in SCOM?
anyways, I absolutely agree with what's written about the song there.

I don?t agree that the guitar solo makes November Rain a great song. I think that Slash?s work is overrated for the media, maybe because he is a very cool guy with the media. November rain is in a whole a wonderful song and I don?t believe that all the people that get in love with NR back in 1992, had taken care specially on the guitar solos. The people who I knew, even people who used to hate GNR and in general rock music, love NR for the lyrics, for the melody and for the video. In my personal opinion the guitar solos in NR are amazing but it is really stupid to say that these solos make NR a wonderful song. NR is a very beautiful song, a really classic song, due to the feelings that transmit the one who write the song (Axl).

I think after 10-15 years working on this record, the new GNR has had more than enough time to put together a solo comparable with Slash's from the glory old days. Its a shame it took a decade to even consider going public with it rather than a couple of years.
So far the new solos are great on songs like TWAT and Better, but they don't quite make up as much of the song as Slash did on these classics, regardless of whether he "liked to dive in and find the monkey" or not.
