Fresh off the first leg of their headlining, sold-out "Red, White & Cr?e" tour, M?TLEY CR?E has just agreed to be the special guest closing act at the KROQ Weenie Roast 2005 at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine, CA on May 21. The announcement was made on the station's popular "Kevin and Bean" morning show by the band's Nikki Sixx and Vince Neil. Other groups on the show include AUDIOSLAVE, FOO FIGHTERS, HOT HOT HEAT, INTERPOL, JIMMY EAT WORLD, THE KILLERS, MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, MXPX, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, THE MARS VOLTA, ALKALINE TRIO, BLOC PARTY, THE BRAVERY, DEAD 60S and TRANSPLANTS.
The CR?E's new single, "Sick Love Song", the second track from their platinum Island/UME album "Red, White & Cr?e", was premiered on KROQ May 12 and remains in rotation, with the video making its world premiere on VH1. The network will also debut "(Inside)Out: Resurrecting M?tley Cr?e on May 30 at 10 p.m. (ET/PT), the documentary which gives the blow-by-blow account of how Tenth Street Entertainment helped reunite the band and book the tour, which has turned out to be the surprise success of the year.
"There's no denying M?TLEY CR?E's massive appeal and influence," said Infinity Sr. Vice President Programming and longtime station PD Kevin Weatherly. "They are rock icons in Los Angeles and across the nation. KROQ listeners always expect the unexpected and they have been known to embrace certain bands outside the conventional alt-rock boundaries. KROQ was the first radio station to ever play M?TLEY CR?E, and it only took us 20 years to convince them to play the Weenie Roast. I know the other bands are psyched to be sharing the stage with the band that knows how to bring it, M?TLEY CR?E."
The choice is reminiscent of METALLICA serving as the surprise closing act for the KROQ Weenie Roast back in 1999, which broadened the band's audience from Active to Modern Rock, and attracted a whole new fan base.
M?TLEY CR?E will launch the second part of their tour, the "Carnival of Sins", with special guests SUM 41, THE EXIES and SILVERTIDE, at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater on July 26 after a month-long stint in Europe.

M?TLEY CR?E singer Vince Neil will perform at the unveiling and the premier tasting of Vince Vineyards, Vince Neil's brand new private label wine from Napa Valley, on Tuesday, May 17 at the Pussycat Doll Lounge at Pure Nightclub in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Pussycat Dolls will be performing specially selected numbers throughout the party and the event will serve as the prelim to the live midnight performance of Neil alongside the Pussycat Dolls dance troupe in Pure.
The main event is part of media mogul Michael Politz's special blend of excitement that he performs on a monthly basis. Mr. Politz is also responsible for the well-read Eye On Vegas weekly e-mailed news flash, and the industry important Las Vegas Food and Beverage Magazine

Former M?TLEY CR?E singer John Corabi recently spoke to Metal-Rules.com about his work with UNION, ERIC SINGER PROJECT and RATT, as well as his thoughts about the current CR?E reunion tour. Several excerpts from the interview follow:
Metal-Rules: Let's talk a little about M?TLEY CR?E, have you seen any of the reunion show so far?
John Corabi: "No."
Metal-Rules: Are you planning to see any?
John Corabi: "No. You see, I don't have an issue with Nikki [Sixx], I don't have an issue with Tommy [Lee], I tried calling them a few times before the tour started. You know they did 'The Dirt' [book] and I did some interviews for 'The Dirt' and Tommy did a book and I did some interviews for his book. And you know I called them and just wanted to congratulate them and say, 'Good luck on the tour. I hope there's no fighting and you can get throught it.' just small talk you know. Those guys, it's funny man, they have a tendency, if you're in the circle, everything is great, if you're outside of the circle, there no thought there. So I called once, I called twice, I called three times, and no return call. I won't go to the tour, my girlfriend wanted to go so I made arrangements and I got her a ticket but said I'm not going. She wanted me to go, it's probably pride on my part, but I just felt like if I would have showed up or went backstage or something like that, it would have been like a dog hanging around a table for scraps, it would have appeared that way. Now Nikki's started emailing Bruce [Kulick] saying, 'Tell Corabi I'm sorry about the BRIDES and he was right about everything.' So there's communication there, but not directly, I've left my number with them a few times, so if they want to call me they'll call, no big deal."
Metal-Rules: Do you still get royalties from M?TLEY CR?E, like from the new best of album "Red White and Crue" which just came out and has already gone platinum?
John Corabi: "I'm actually checking into that right now. You see, I actually signed a publishing deal when I joined the band, so this record company gave me an advance years ago and since I've left the band I haven't received anything from the record company, so I don't know if M?TLEY send them the money and they've just kept it or if M?TLEY is not sending the money, I don't know, I haven't received anything from anybody, so my manager is actually checking into it, because I just realized that there was the record that I did, well there was three records that I was involved with: 'M?tley Cr?e', 'Quarternary' and 'Generation Swine', and those three records have been re-realesed a couple of different times on different labels, and then there's all these little compilation records like 'Supersonic and Demonic Relics', there's a video thing called 'M?tley Cr?e Greatest Video Hits' that I have three songs on, there's the new one 'Red,White and Cr?e', then there's another one that was released only in Europe called 'Loud as Fuck'. I'm on that and the DVD, I didn't even knew about these. So my manager contacted the record company that gave me the advance and said, 'What's the deal? Why isn't John getting any statements?' So there is maybe some money, somewhere in the pipeline for me, but I don't worry about it."
Metal-Rules: Whatever happened to you with the BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION?
John Corabi: "To be perfectly honest with you, I get along with Nikki [Sixx] splendidly, but when I left the band I told Nikki that there was gonna be some egos involved, I don't wanna say who, but I just said there's a member in this band that I just do not get along with, that I do not write well with. First of all they basically told me that they don't need me to write at all, so I was like I'm not into that situation, and I told Nikki, 'Dude, I love you to death. I known that you and I can write a great record and so I'm out.' And as it turned out he just sent Bruce [Kulick] an email like a week ago and said, 'Tell Corabi I'm really sorry about the BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION thing and he was right.' Because Nikki is having an issue now with the person that I was having an issue with? So we'll just leave it at that."
Metal-Rules: What's your opinion of the finished record?
John Corabi: "To be honest with you, I've written with Nikki Sixx and my whole beef with that record was... and I like London [LeGrand], I don't dislike London at all, everybody thought I left, even London thought I left the band because I didn't like him, that's not an issue, but I felt like there were certain members in that band that were trying too hard to be cool and there's an American saying you can't fit a square peg into a round hole, you know, it's just not gonna go."
Metal-Rules: I'm starting to get the picture?
John Corabi: "So we know who we're talking about then. But you know it's like when I came in, I spoke with Nikki at length and he told me, 'Yeah, you can write, you can do this, you can do that, I really want you to contribute.' So I started to contribute and started to get pushed aside. After listening to the record I was just scratching my head, like I don't know what we're trying to do here, are we trying to be punk, are we trying to be AFI, what the fuck are we doing here? An honestly I told Nikki, when I left I said the best song on the record is a song that Nikki wrote with an outside writer for somebody else, a song called 'Life'."

Las Vegas Review-Journal is reporting that a historic 40-week deal that would put the rock group M?TLEY CR?E into the Aladdin/Planet Hollywood showroom as resident headliners is being finalized, according to sources.
Clear Channel Entertainment and Planet Hollywood, the Aladdin's new owners, are planning an announcement later this year.
The comeback CR?E, currently enjoying one of the most successful tours of 2005, would get a reported $10 million each, a madeover showroom and a role in Planet Hollywood's grand opening next summer.
Frontman Vince Neil, who is performing Tuesday at the Pussycat Dolls Lounge (Caesars Palace), has told friends that the new showroom will feature flying motorcycles and dancers on stripper water poles.

ContactMusic.com is reporting that M?TLEY CR?E frontman Vince Neil has rejected reports of tension between band members ? and blames DURAN DURAN for fuelling the rumours.
Neil was furious to hear DURAN DURAN had slammed M?TLEY CR?E for travelling separately on tour, insinuating CR?E were not getting along.
But Neil insists any band would do the same if they had the money, and insists the reunited hard rockers are happier than ever working together.
He says, "We've had some crap thrown at us recently because we opted to travel on four separate tour buses which must mean we hate each other, which is bullshit. If you could afford to do it every band in the fucking world would!
"I read this thing where those fuckheads in DURAN DURAN were like, 'We all travel together and that's the only way to tour and it just shows how fucked up M?TLEY CR?E is.'
"I was like, 'Who the fuck are you to tell us how fucked up we are!'
"I'm amazed how far people are prepared to delve into shallow shit like that to search for a meaning that just isn't there."

NYT is reporting that M?TLEY CR?E filed suit against NBC Tuesday (May 24) alleging that the network violated the group's free-speech rights and weakened its sales by banning it after Vince Neil, the lead singer, used an expletive on the air in a Dec. 31 appearance on "The Tonight Show".
The lawsuit, filed in a federal court in Los Angeles, accuses the network of censoring the band to mollify a Federal Communications Commission that has been increasingly quick to levy steep fines for broadcasting indecent material on television and radio. The lawsuit says the network, which banned the group after Mr. Neil inserted an expletive into his New Year's greeting to M?TLEY CR?E's drummer, Tommy Lee, added insult to injury by promoting a summer reality series featuring Mr. Lee.
The band, known for 1980's hits like "Shout at the Devil" and "Girls, Girls, Girls", is requesting a ruling that NBC's ban is unconstitutional, a court order forcing the network to lift it, and unspecified financial damages tied to the band's reduced media exposure.
"We meant no harm, but it feels that we're being singled out unfairly," said Nikki Sixx, the band's bassist. "This is a discrimination issue, pure and simple. All we've ever asked is to be treated like everybody else, which is why we're taking this action." In a statement yesterday, NBC said: "To ensure compliance with its broadcast standards, NBC has the right to decide not to invite back guests who violate those standards and use an expletive during a live entertainment program. The lawsuit M?TLEY CR?E has filed against us is meritless."
"I think it's a publicity stunt," Charles Tobin, a Washington lawyer who specializes in First Amendment law and has represented CNN and Fox, said of the M?TLEY CR?E suit. "It can't get NBC's help to boost its album through the airwaves. So it's going to try and do it by dragging NBC into court."
But the band's lawyer, Skip Miller, argues that there are lower-court opinions supporting the notion that a private entity, like a television network, acting under government pressure, can be liable for damages for violating free-speech rights. Mr. Miller added that NBC's action unfairly singled out M?TLEY CR?E because NBC had not announced similar bans on other performers who have uttered profanities on its airwaves, including the singer Bono of U2, or the singer John Mayer. (The F.C.C. found that NBC violated decency standards by broadcasting a vulgarity uttered by Bono during the Golden Globes in 2003, but did not impose a fine.)
"Once you're on, and then you get banned," Mr. Miller said, "the question is why? Is it because NBC decided to throw M?TLEY CR?E under the train? If it's because of kowtowing to the F.C.C. and governmental pressure," he continued, "yes, I do think that can be a First Amendment violation."
In the lawsuit the band said Mr. Neil was not aware that his statement was being broadcast. But in any event, the band said, the live broadcast took place during late-night hours when federal prohibitions on indecent material have not traditionally been applied.Three weeks later, Mr. Zucker of NBC told a meeting of television critics that "M?TLEY CR?E will not be back on NBC." He said that the New Year's Eve edition of "The Tonight Show" would be broadcast on a five-second delay going forward.
As a result, the band said, a previously planned appearance on NBC's "Last Call With Carson Daly" was called off. The band also said it was barred from appearing on other network programs, including "Late Night With Conan O'Brien", and media exposure that cost it prospective ticket, merchandise and album sales, as well as corporate sponsorships. Even without appearances on the network, the band's new double album, "Red, White & Cr?e", composed primarily of previously released songs, has sold a surprising 349,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Still, when the ban went into effect, just before the release of the album, it "was a tender, important time for them," Mr. Miller said. "NBC's action was overkill."

Launch Radio Networks reports: M?TLEY CR?E filed a lawsuit against NBC-TV on May 24, alleging that a network ban has cost the CR?E money in lost sales of albums, concert tickets, and merchandise, as well as having a negative impact on their bargaining position with potential sponsors and other concerns. The network banned the group from all its programs after singer Vince Neil dropped the F-bomb during a New Year's Eve performance on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno". Neil told Launch that he had no idea something bad even happened that night. "It was funny, because we didn't hear any ? that night, Jay's all, 'Yeah, thank you guys,' you know, gave us all hugs, and next day was fine," he said. "Then it was like a couple days after that, you know, I started, like, hearing about it and reading about it. I'm like, 'Geez, did I say that?', 'cause I didn't even realize it."
Neil added that, given the CR?E's reputation as bad boys, it was foolish of "The Tonight Show" to host the band without using a delay. "Probably even in the back of my mind, you know, it was like, you figure with all this live stuff, they've gotta now, everybody has to always be on a delay. But, you know, I don't know why they didn't have a delay with us on there."
The CR?E is seeking unspecified damages and wants NBC to lift its ban, which the band is calling a First Amendment violation that's hurt the group financially.
M?TLEY CR?E begins a European tour on June 4 in Germany, and returns to North America for summer shows beginning July 24 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
