Who?

« Reply #500 on: February 20, 2005, 12:10:26 PM »

dude i discovered a song however that i fuckin absolutely love and i had forgot all about cause i havent listened to my"generation swine" cd in a couple years

"Beauty" is so fuckin great.
Well i know you like me love that album, but i think Beauty is one of the weakest songs, i would have prefered them to of put Flush on instead, that's one of the strongest on the album.? As for the choices from Supersonic and Demonic Relics i would have gone with Angela & Friends from Quaternary those 2 tracks are way stronger than Planet Boom & Bittersuite.? Other than that i would probably only add Time For Change & Rodeo to very underated tracks from 80s M?tley Cr?e.
I agree with you with Angela and Friends. But? I found Time For A Change too cheesy. If you wanted a balad maybie Driftaway would have worked (BTW, I?m listening to it right now, A+!!)

Baby Slash//
It was nothing to do with wanting another ballad on, i just think the song is great, it's so simple but so true, and since my life is constantly changing i just love listening to it.  Remember Nothing stays the same

ive always remembered Flush and Glitter etc but for some reason i had totally forgotten about Beauty

dont ask me how but i did and to hear it again was kick ass

one question

who is singing the verses tommy or nikki?

i know its tommy singing the chorus on the "she's my beauty" parts

but who is singing the verses cause that kicks so much ass.

i just wish besides bittersuite and planet boom they had put anything, hell even power to the music from"motley crue"

ive always loved "keep your eye on the money" from theatre of pain maybe even "sticky sweet" from Dr feelgood

i love rock n roll junkie however and that wouldve went nice after primal scream

here's something interesting

Mike Clink produced New tattoo but i think the production is shitty, how can the man who produced some of the all time classic GNR records do such a poor job on this cd?

New tattoo has some good songs, they are growin on me but it still sounds so dated, it sounds like it was recorded before too fast for love. u can really tell Tommy isnt drumming on it also.

As soon as I heard that Motley Crue was doing a reunion tour, I couldn't have been more hyped up. However, the day before the St. Pete show, I was even more hyped to see the set list. As it turns out, things don't always turn out the way you planned. This particular day turned out to be a personal disaster. I made the "so-called" two hour trip from Titusville, FL (where I was staying at the time). Luckily, I left extremely early because it took about four hours to get there. Traffic was horrid. I arrived at the show right about show time but luckily for me the show was running behind schedule. It's going to be nearly impossible to give a fair/accurate review of the show due to personal circumstances and the terrible seats I had. My seats were only a few rows from the top of the arena which made it an echoing mess. I literally couldn't understand one word/note from the band. Even when a member of the band was talking with no music, I had no idea what was being said. Nevertheless, I'll try to give you a basic perspective of the show based on what I was able to see and hear.

This tour had a circus theme. There have been a few bands that have tried this as well i.e. W.A.S.P., KISS, etc. Personally, I am not a big fan of this type of performance. The stage was a big dingy circus tent with characters like circus midgets and rock 'n roll circus sluts. I got to see the first two songs from the front of the stage and they were great. I have never been a fan of Vince Neil live but my brutal honesty forces me to agree with the critics when they say he is vocally astounding since his makeover.

As I stood in front of the crowd of 14,000+ fans before the start of the show and during my photo time of the first two songs, I was in a state of ROCK 'N ROLL euphoria. It was neither from the marijuana in the air or any alcohol consumption. The atmosphere took me back to my younger years when arena rock was at the top of its game when the entertainment equaled the price of admission. I just wish this could occur more often. I also have to give much respect to Mick Mars for doing this tour regardless of his health. Coming out he wore a Michael Myers/BucketHead mask. I think this helped his appearance (I'm just being honest). All jokes aside, Mick still rocked as he did in his younger years.

Now, to point out a couple of things I didn't enjoy, somewhere around thirty minutes into the show there was an intermission. I found this rather odd for a rock show but after I thought about it, Mick needed a well-deserved break. They proceeded to give him another break during the "so-called" bass solo which was anything but...........

Nikki was surrounded by electronic contrivance. It seemed to be a short display of noise ending with fireworks and sparks. Did he even hit more than two notes on his bass?(.......not impressed, but at least Mick got a few more minutes break.)

For years we have all been impressed with Tommy's drum solo antics and I'm sure most of us would agree that nobody will ever top Tommy's 1987 upside down drum solo but his solo at this particular show was.......well.......lame. Tommy used a total of three drum sets; one on the main stage(obviously), and one on either side of the stage on the top corners. Lee would fly back and forth from kit to kit hanging from support wires. One kit was tuned to techno type sounds and the other to reggae type sounds. This did nothing to show off Tommy's amazing talent. It again sounded like a bunch of noise much like Nikki's ''so-called'' bass solo. The finale of the solo was fireworks, bombs and smoke leading to Tommy disappearing and reappearing on his main kit(once again, Mick got a breather).

I also didn't agree with the encore songs. I thought Helter Skelter was a great song to play towards the end. On the other hand, ending the show with Anarchy In The U.K. was a bad decision in my opinion. I think their version of this classic was terrible to begin with.

Before the hate mail begins, let me just say that I have been a die-hard Crue fan from the beginning. I think this show has a lot of potential but I didn't approve of the new Crue antics.

Overall, the show seemed very entertaining. I would love to catch another show on the tour with better seats and a better overall perspective.

THIS WAS THE OFFICIAL SET LIST GIVEN TO ME BACKSTAGE

Launch Radio Networks reports: The other members of M?TLEY CR?E have been telling everybody that, despite his recent hip replacement surgery, guitarist Mick Mars is fit and ready to rock. Now Mars has stepped forward and told Launch they weren't lying. "I'm great. I'm great," he said. "I'm out here doing it, working it. I'm good. I let people think what they want and it doesn't bother me. I know what I'm doing. I know that I'm healthy, and I know I'm in. I'm in for the long haul."

Mars, whose real name is Bob Deal, underwent his surgery in October. He still suffers from a chronic degenerative illness called ankylosing spondylitis, which fuses together the joints and bones of the spine. He told Launch he's been talking to medical specialists in Germany about the problem.

The maladies led to rumors that Mars would not be able to take part in M?TLEY CR?E's current"Red, White & Cr?e" reunion tour. Some reports suggested he would be replaced by JANE'S ADDICTION and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS veteran Dave Navarro.

M?TLEY CR?E performs tonight at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. (Fuckin Right)

The band will be the featured guests on ABC-TV's "Live with Regis And Kelly" on Thursday, March 3, at 9:00 a.m. The group plays at New York's Madison Square Garden that night.

One day earlier, on March 2, the CR?E will ring the New York Stock Exchange's closing bell at 4:00 p.m.

M?TLEY CR?E bassist Nikki Sixx spoke to Toronto's Metro newspaper about the group's "Red, White, and Cr?e 2005...Better Live Than Dead" tour, which hits Toronto's Air Canada Centre tonight (Feb. 23).

"We are just fucking pigs," Sixx said. "We're circus freaks. We're not even going to try to fit in, because we really don't fit anywhere. We have to throw our own party because no one will let us go to theirs."

"It's more like a carnival ? a white-trash carnival ? meets a freak show," Sixx said of the band's live show.

"Somebody from the music industry came backstage after our first gig and said, 'This is what we've been missing all these years,'" Sixx, 46, said. "Young people have heard about it, others saw versions of this back in its heyday. All we're doing is just carrying the flag for the '70s. We're fortunate to have carved out something that maybe nobody else has done exactly like us. Nobody has sounded like us. Or quite looked like us."

Motley Crue all sins forgiven

BEN RAYNER
POP MUSIC CRITIC

Funny how the pendulum swings, eh?

The brazenly foolish strain of glammed-up American metal perfected and popularized by M?tley Cr?e during the mid-1980s was, as some of you might recall, supposedly killed off with the advent of grunge and forever reconciled to the "punchline" section of the rock history books.

Amazing what a decade of humourless Pearl Jam rip-offs, whinging nu-metal mooks, boy bands, teen-pop tarts and Coldplay will do, though. Suddenly, a reunited Cr?e seems like the very embodiment of cool, seems prescient rather than pitiably out of fashion. Suddenly, it's okay to admit that you like Cr?e, rather than just sporting their old T-shirts "ironically" and sneaking the volume up on the radio if "Girls, Girls, Girls" comes on the radio when you're alone in the car.

The truth is, however, that M?tley Cr?e has never really gone away.

There was that ugly business with the other singer years ago, sure. But although last night's sold-out gig at the Air Canada Centre was the first Toronto date to feature the original line-up of Vince Neil, Tommy Lee, Nikki Sixx and Mick Mars since the last reunion tour in 1998, we haven't stopped buying the tell-all books or following the celebrity court cases, or watching Behind the Music or even coming out for the Lee-less shows with that girl from Hole in the interim. M?tley Cr?e has become an institution, a legend, a cautionary tale far larger than itself.

For that very reason, the Cr?e's "Better Live than Dead" tour is being eyed as much for its potential to dissolve into open violence at any second as for its set list. Six dates in, though, old animosities and onstage fisticuffs have been held in check and the band appears to be enjoying its renewed time together. And, to its members' enduring credit as rock 'n' roll entertainers, we are, too.

In keeping with reputation, last night's show emerged from a soiled circus tent that had disgorged a deformed midget clown and two Sapphically inclined "dancers" before a single note was played. And while the distractions ? endless pyrotechnics, half-naked chicks writhing together on the floor, more pyrotechnics, half-naked chicks on bikes, even more pyrotechnics, half-naked chicks dangling from chains ? were most welcome, they weren't simply there to shore up a half-assed program.

This wasn't the tightest M?tley Cr?e we've seen and Mars is looking decidedly frail these days, but the tentative playing and hollow sound that prevented opener "Shout at the Devil" from being a definitive announcement of the band's return was overcome by a galvanizing attack on "Too Fast for Love" that had the crowd on side for the rest of the night.

If the first half was a slightly rusty sampler for the longtime faithful, dipping into golden Sunset Strip oldies like "Ten Seconds to Love" and "Red Hot," the second was the Cr?e luxuriating in its stadium-shattering glory years. The volume was quickly doubled to make good on an onstage banner promising "the loudest show on earth" and a steady stream of indelible trash-metal gems ? "Girls, Girls, Girls," "Wild Side," "Dr. Feelgood," "Don't Go Away Mad (Just Go Away)" ? helped obfuscate the fact that the band has done nothing of particular note since, like, 1989.

If this is indeed a comeback, it'll take more than nostalgia and temporary fraternity to sustain. For now, though, that's good enough.

M?TLEY CR?E bassist Nikki Sixx recently spoke to Wisconsin-Music.com about the group's "Red, White, and Cr?e 2005...Better Live Than Dead" tour and their recent war of words with HANOI ROCKS over the title of the CR?E's box set, "Music To Crash Your Car To, Volume 1", and the "The Dirt" autobiography, among other topics. Several excerpts from the interview follow:

Wisconsin-Music.com: Now [on this tour] you don't have an opening band, but you're playing a mini-movie?

Nikki Sixx: It's really an intro ? we're in a movie, and it'll be coming to theaters, so it was fun for us to create something to start our show. And basically, the movie is called 'Disaster: the Movie', and it's very tongue-in-cheek. Remember how they used to do 'Airplane' and that kind of stuff, that would be a take-off on all of those airplane movies? Well, this is kind of taking the piss out of movies like 'Armageddon'. And it's really fun. Any time we can take a piss up anything, we do ? including ourselves. So, that's kind of what it is, it's a setup for that, and it helps lead us into an intermission, and (laughs) I think the movie is going to be killer. We're actually playing a concert in the movie ? claymation versions of ourselves.

Wisconsin-Music.com: So it's your voice?

Nikki Sixx: Yeah, we did all of the voiceover stuff. This concert, everything from the claymation stuff to the pyro cues to the aerialists to the midgets to the stilt walkers, the whole thing is just ? it's a lot of fucking detail. So that what I was saying, forget about the fact that we play 25 songs ? and most people are like, 'how do you remember that?' (laughs) and I guess it just gets entrenched in your brain ? but there's a lot of details, and that's why I'm surprised ? the lighting, the whole thing, kinda all came together last night, and it was cool to see the crew and the band ? and M?TLEY CR?E as well ? all being like, "Wow, it worked!? 'Cause we didn't know, when you put a show like that together. Our problem is, that we're insane.

Wisconsin-Music.com: There were some rumors floating around before the tour even started that there were going to be possible stand-ins, and different things. All rumors?

Nikki Sixx: Yeah, I know, that shit cracks me up. Cracks Mick [Mars, guitar] up so much that he came on last night with a white mask on. And he's all covered up and he has a white mask and he's playing. So, I'm like, ok. I look over sometimes at my bandmates and I'm like, 'What are you doing?' I think they're insane, that's how insane we are! One insane person thinking the other person is insane. That's what the loony bin is.

Wisconsin-Music.com: Now, it's pretty well documented that there's always turmoil between Tommy [Lee, drums] and Vince [Neil, vocals], and you're always the peacekeeper more often than not. Do you see anything different on this tour?

Nikki Sixx: Those two guys don't seem to need any outside input on anything. As a matter of fact, we did something this year that was not based on animosity. A lot of people have heard about it, and said it is. We each have our own tour bus. We've never done that before. I've got five kids and I'm married, Tommy's got two kids and he's been married, Vince just got married again, Mick's out of a relationship, Tommy's single as well. We've done a lot in our life, we've covered a lot of miles, done a lot of everything. To have that little bit of space ? now, me and Tommy have recording studios built into our bus ? but just to have that little bit of space, to actually have a bedroom instead of a bunk, it's really cool. So we said, let's have one big room, that we call the hospitality room, like always, and then let's have four separate dressing rooms, and JVC came in and made us these flat-screen TV rolling cases with DVD players and stuff, so it's like each guy has his own space. We all end up in one of the other guy's rooms all the time. It's just weird, we always end up together, and as far as people getting along, every time you turn around they're hanging out. We think it's funny. Him and Vince are just kicking it and all mellow, and I'm the crazy one now. We've switched personalities!

Wisconsin-Music.com: [HANOI ROCKS guitarist Andy McCoy] has recently gone on the record claiming that certain things that happened in "The Dirt" are "pure lies.?

Nikki Sixx: (laughs) You know what I love about that? You've got a has-been that never was, just fuckin' grabbing at straws to get attention. I mean, c'mon, man. And nothing he says makes any fucking sense! You ever read the interview where he said that his band sold more records than our band? I was like, 'Dude, are you crazy!' [mimics McCoy] 'We sold fifty million records and they sold forty, we were a bigger band than them.' And I'm like, 'Dude, why to you care about my ass so bad? You won't stop talking about it.' He's got a fuckin' crush on me or something. (laughs) Fuckin' fag.

Wisconsin-Music.com: The only way I've actually heard of HANOI was through everything that happened with Vince.

Nikki Sixx: Sure. It's a very sad thing to happen, but dude, stop already trying to get attention for yourself. He's like the drunk chick at a party, that won't stop splashing everybody. But she has bad tits. Stop! (laughs) No one's gonna fuck ya, no matter ? Andy, no matter how much you talk about M?TLEY CR?E, your band still isn't gonna make it! Figure it out! I mean, go talk about Keith Richards, maybe that will give you another fuckin' one album sale. (laughs)

M?TLEY CR?E singer Vince Neil recently spoke to The Hartford Courant about the group's "Red, White, and Cr?e 2005...Better Live Than Dead" reunion tour and their future plans. Several excerpts from the interview follow:

On Tommy Lee's recent statement to the Asociated Press that "This tour could last a week. It could last a year. I just don't know":

"I never heard of anything like that. It took us months to get this tour to where we wanted it. We're talking a huge, huge production here. This isn't something we just put together in, like, a couple days. So I think the press actually says things that really aren't necessarily true. I never heard that in my life."

On how the band is overcoming personal problems between bandmembers that derailed the last original CR?E tour:

"For one thing, there are no personal problems. Everybody is getting along great; we're having a great time. If we were having problems, we probably wouldn't have done this whole thing in the first place. We've been rehearsing, having a great time, and it's all good."

On the outside perception that M?TLEY CR?E are eager to show fans that the band can handle this tour:

"We don't have to prove anything to anybody. We are M?TLEY CR?E. We're selling out every arena, and people are wanting to come out and see us. So it's all good."

On the group's live show:

"It's the biggest thing we've ever done. Tommy's drum thing is the craziest thing he's ever done. We've decided to not have an opening act, so we go on right at [7:30], and we play the whole time, so we can play the more obscure songs also, you know, stuff from the first couple records. There's a lot of visual stuff, a lot of stuff going on, a lot of characters. Obviously the pyro, stuff that's never been done on tour before."

On the possibility of a new M?TLEY CR?E studio album:

"We're really focused on this tour. This tour could last up to three years, so to think about an album right now is pretty futile. We'll take it as it goes. If it gets toward the end of the tour, and everybody's like, 'Yeah, let's do another record or take a year off and put another record out,' that'll be great. But it's not really being talked about right now."
