I don't know if I'd say they've "outlasted".  Let's face it, Motley Crue and bands of the like were quite dormant or non-factors during much of the nineties and until the last couple years.  We're experiencing a revival right now, who's to say that can't happen with some grunge bands years down the line?

lets hope not...

but think about it. pearl jam, alice in chains, stp...they are all touring now, some even still putting new material out.

without nirvana they will never be huge.

motley crue were like the nirvana of glam. Motley crue are sitll around, nirvana arnt able to be cause of kurt so. Hopefully that will stop grunge ever being dominant again.

I agree to a point.  I used to love Pearl Jam.  I stuck with them through "Yield" although the last album of theirs I really enjoyed to the fullest was "Vitalogy" (their 3rd disc).  I haven't heard much of their new stuff, but they are still active.  Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Poison, etc. are active once again and touring.  But let's be honest, you can't exactly say they're back here to stay and rule the music world again.  It's too early for that.  I like what I've heard so far, but then again I've liked one or two Pearl Jam songs that hit the airwaves too from their recent albums but that's IT!

Most of these guys haven't really ever been inactive.

i do enjoy the Crues new song more than the new gnr songs i have heard. But it isnt fair to judge until we (if we) get a proper release of new gnr stuff.

I am aware that it isn't, but this isn't about "fair" it's about what I've heard and what I like the most.

Haha ok man. Time will tell, it all depends on whether crues new album is gonna be worth a shit or not. If they dont put a strong album out after all these years im gonna be pissed off.

Inspired by the energy and experience of their performance with their Cr?e Fest cohorts BUCKCHERRY, PAPA ROACH, SIXX: A.M. and TRAPT at the press conference to announce their upcoming summer tour, M?TLEY CR?E extended the production for their upcoming CD, returning to the studio this week to record one more track for their first studio album in over a decade, "Saints of Los Angeles". The album, which has a new release date of June 24, follows the story of the band's NY Times best-selling memoir "The Dirt", a no-holds-barred tell-all that features every gritty detail of the group's exploits as one of the world's biggest rock bands.

Says Sixx, "Before our performance at the press conference, we were firing on all cylinders at sound check just jamming out, and that's when the new idea came. We quickly laid it down and went to the studio to record it, and liked it so much we pushed back the release one week so that we could get it onto the album ? it now has 13 tracks. It's the ultimate song to end the record with and begin the new chapter of our career."

According to Amazon.com, "Saints of Los Angeles" will feature the following track listing:

01. L.A.M.F.
02. Face Down In The Dirt
03. What's It Gonna Take
04. Down At The Whisky
05. Saints Of Los Angeles
06. Mutherfucker Of The Year
07. The Animal In Me
08. Welcome To The Machine
09. Just Another Psycho
10. Chicks = Trouble
11. This Ain't A Love Song
12. White Trash Circus
13. Goin' Out Swingin'

I think the new Crue is a great pop song.  In that way, it's better than any of the new GN'R leaks since none of them are as out and out pop as the new Crue.  But in no way, shape or form is there same depth, artistry, emotion and overall quality as any of the new GN'R leaks.  I think while "Better" may not be quite as radio friendly as "Saints of Los Angeles", it smokes that song as far as quality.

nah probably just a direct reference to the part in the dirt where they have a diagram of "the machine" in which bands get onto.
