Yeah, the area where my venue is located (once the middle of farm country) is now on the edge of major development, so people want the land.  It's likely it'll be sold after this season (we NEED another fucking strip mall!  Where else can I get a cell phone and maybe a Subway sub and some stinky bath salts all in once location?).  SOOO, as a consequence, they're REALLY gouging us this time.  Two tix at $29/each, and the total ends up being about $95.

Ass.

Rape.

How are they a hair band when they came out way before Hair metal was even a term?

In the same way Sabbath's a metal band even though they came out before "heavy metal" was a term.

Hair metal is a dumb label, though, because it has NOTHING to do with the music.  The bands labeled as such vary from pop-glam to blues infused hard rock to borderline metal.

So - what's the description of a "hair" band, then?  Back in the day, I used to think it was a band with members who had long hair.  GnR would be included in that.   However, I've learned that that description is way wrong.  So, a hair band, I've thought is one with - what?  Teased 1980's hair?  With that description, I'd say that MC was a hair band, at one time.  Of course, early on, GnR started out that way, too, but quickly wisened up (there was a time with the teased hair, makeup, and gloves, come on....).

Back on topic - loving the new song!  Glad to see that they have remained intact and that Mick Mars is there, despite his health problems.  Awesome stuff!

I'd say the teased hair part + making mainstream, more poppy rock songs.

This is where people get messed up

Hair band isnt literally "I had long hair"

Hair metal can also be described as cheese metal

or poser metal, guys who jumped on the bandwagon and got famous because of other bands but had no music or substance to back it up

Motley not a hair band, If u listen to their music, it is not hair band music
Bon Jovi, Not a hair band, great hair, but the music stands up and holds up today and had substance

Poison are borderline. They had really great songs like Every Rose, Something To Believe in, Life Goes On that dont qualify as hair band but then they have some complete and utter cheese that does.

GNR definitely not a hair band

Hair bands are the cheese shit like Warrant*early stuff* Slaughter, Winger, Britny Fox, Nelson, etc etc

another two bands given the hair metal label would be
Cinderella, and Skid Row. I dont think they deserve that label at all.

Skid row rocks too hard, and Cinderella are too bluesy to be "hair metal".

I'm saying this as a big Poison fan, Every Rose Has It's Thorn not cheesy....wtf? Shocked

They are anything but borderline line.

Oh and Skid Row deserved the label based on their first album, but their subsequent albums were anything but, not that this label matters, all the music mentioned, hair metal or not, cheesy or not is all quality (IMO).

motley crue is a hair band. so is guns n roses. you just have to accept it. it's just a label. no big deal. die hard fans of every hair band always argue that their band is "too good" to be labeled as such.

the term almost has more to do with the glam look than their style of music. gnr probably could have avoided the label, but Axl came out in their first video with his hair teased as high as possible.

why not at least give them respect n use the term glam metal.

hair metal is a anti term created in the 90s.

I'm not thinking Vince, Nikki, Tommy and Mick are sitting around the table worried about the 'hair band' label.

Motley are an arena act, the same with Poison-I'm sure while it bothered them in the 90's that they were labeled hair metal, they have outlasted many of the grunge/alternative bands that were selling millions of albums in the 90's and were said to have killed Motley Crue off
