On vacation in San Diego, caught one of the first flights allowed out.
The longest flight I ever took...everyone on board clapped when we landed.
Tough times.

Just out of school working my first job. What a terrible day. Thank God we decided to attack and occupy a nation that had nothing to do with the attack! Yay! Hey, we had to do something, right?

I was watching the 10.30 news here in Australia when the network went into Breaking News mode.
About 10 mins before the first plane hit, I was having a conversation with my mother over the phone about WW2. She was telling me the story of when the war broke out in Poland. My grandfather was in the middle of shaving his face when he could hear Stukkers so he ran outside to have a look - standing there with half his face shaven. She finished up saying that it is amazing how life changed forever on that day...........
Next thing you know, I'm ringing back saying......you better turn on the news........

How can I argue with that logic?

i remember that my Grandma got me up for school, i was only in 6th grade, and i remember it being on Good Morning America that a plane flew into the WTC and i didn't think anything else of it i thought it was some drunk ass pilot. But then when i got to school my teacher said that the first building fell then 20-30 minutes later the second one fell. Then the rest of the day went on like normal only the TV was on and thats it i think
Let us never forget

I was in my freshman year of college and was heading to the ROTC building after an orthodontist appointment. I remember my mom calling me on the way telling me the towers had been hit. When she called back a little later to tell me the Pentagon had been hit, I was in total awe and shock. I just remember being glued to the TV wondering if WW3 was about to happen. I was able to goto NYC and DC a few months later to pay my respects.
Howard Stern has an excellent show and reminder of the events that transpired that day on Howard On Demand. I viewed that last night and it brought me to tears to relive all of it. I can only imagine what those who saw it first hand and lost someone have been through. May they all rest in peace.

I was working at the prison on base and one of my workers called me over to their dorm to show me the first plane hitting on the TV. About a minute after watching, the second plane collided. After that it was pretty much balls to the wall that day. We had to close base (it was an open base at the time where anyone could drive on) and we had to man the gates and supervise the artillery kiddies as they searched every car entering base. The wait for military personnel to get on was 3-4 hours. I didn't even get off base to get back home until the next day.

Yes Walter, I too listened in to Howard as I commuted from one job site to another around noon. Howard didn't leave, he was amazing. He stayed on through the hell and gave one hell of a show that day. Nice reminder. Thanks.

I was 13, in the 8th grade, and I had just waken up to get ready to go to school.
It was about 7:00 in the morning when I turned on the TV.
I woke up to see one tower burning, and wondering what had happened to the other tower. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. And then they switched over to cover the Pentagon. I then knew it was an attack on the country.
I saw the second tower collapse just as I was about to leave for school.
Everyone was just numb that day. Teacher, students, etc...
Came home and watched TV until it was time to go to sleep. It was one of the worst days of my life.
I still think about all the people who were affected and I pray for them.

I was in school, and none of us actually believed the teachers until we all got pulled out by our parents and saw the news. When my dad told me I actually thought it fell under it's own weight, I remember my exact words. At least I got to visit the towers before they fell.
