I was in school, and none of us actually believed the teachers until we all got pulled out by our parents and saw the news. When my dad told me I actually thought it fell under it's own weight, I remember my exact words. At least I got to visit the towers before they fell.

I was 11 years old and in 4th grade. beautiful warm sunny day nothing unusual. When I got to school there were people talking about some plane crash in NY. Didn't really think anythink anything of it. Later during math class, my teacher brough in a tv and turned to CNN to watch the news, and you can see the planes hit the towers. During lunch time, alot of parents came to take their kids home (I stayed) and we weren't allowed out for recess. I came home from school, very confused about what happened. My mom sat me down and explained everything.

Yes, someone else was telling me about the planted explosives in the building. It would have taken some time to set those explosives up.

How's all the Ron Paul research treating you? Find an issue yet that you agree on other than the war (and Ron Paul doesn't agree with you) or are you still strugglin? Maybe you should look into the person F'N Crazy has been touting.

What are you talking about?
Edit: If you are keeping score on my life, then you should note I laid tile from 4ish-8:30 or so.
Now I'm watching a movie about credit card debt
Maxed Out
, and the banking system in Amerika. I also just made myself some coffee. Soon the Missus will finish cooking us a late dinner (Cuban pork, mojo, black beans, it's really the best, you should try it) and I'll pause this movie to eat until I'm nice n full. Then we'll get our daily dose of liberal propaganda via Jon Stewart, and if everything goes right, I may get some action (sorry these pictures are for gold members only.)

This may have nothing to do with the terrorist attack itself, but I remember that I had really understood the
real
dimensions of the catastrophe when I came back from university and started zapping the TV.
When I saw ESPN (and cartoon channels also) covering the news and showing the images of the planes crushing the Twin Towers I really understood how big and how disastrous the thing was.
We, in southamerica, needed some time to understand all this thing. Not everyone here knew the Twin Towers, the World Trade Center and none of us had idea about Al Qaeda, Bin Laden and all that shit. And I think that
that
was the first time I saw real images of the pentagon.

was living in Australia at the time - and knew nothing about it until I was going to work the next day and saw a newspaper pic over someone's shoulder on the bus but I didnt catch the headline. Still had no idea until I got into work (top floor of a fairly tall building) and everyone was talking about it. It didnt really hit me until I got home that night and watched the news and actually saw what happened and the footage. I felt so sad and sick I had to leave the house/news/television/radio and go for a long walk by myself.
it was good to be able to pay some respects at the site when I was in NYC last month.

I don't know
I think I was at home or school, but I read about it on a forum where I used to chat back then. Didn't really realise it until my dad got home from work and put on the news.

I was at home off sick from work when I heard the news on the radio about the first plane hitting the tower. ?I switched on Sky News and spent most of the day watching the day's events unfold with my initial disbelief turning to shock and horror at the scale of the atrocity. ?I had a good friend living in New York at the time and was extremely relieved when I found out that he was okay.
As someone who'd spent most of my working life throughout the '80s and '90s commuting into London on a daily basis and had experienced the effects of the IRA's mainland bombing campaign, it brought back strongly the feelings of how vulnerable ordinary workers like myself were against people determined to carry out acts of violence like this. ?Every time my tube train would be held up somewhere in the tunnel deep under the London streets, it would be hard not to let your mind start thinking about what if there was a bomb further along the track or even just another security alert at the next station that'd mean I would be stuck in the tunnel for ages whilst it was investigated. ?It made me realise, yet again, how much I depended on those in authority to protect me as I went about my normal routine of just going to work.
In the days following the attack, I visited the US Embassy in London, signed the Book of Rememberance and laid a small bunch of red roses alongside the many other tributes left in the square outside. ?It was incredibly emotional reading all the messages of support and very touching to know that so many other people felt the same bond with our cousins on the other side of the water as I did. ?Although not particularly religious, I later attended the Service of Rememberance held in Westminster Abbey; a most poignant occasion which included Mica Paris singing and Jerry Hall giving a reading.
Regardless of the events that have followed, (warfighting and the other terrorist attacks, including the 7 July London bombings), I think that 11 Sept was a date that changed the world and that anyone who thinks that their life wasn't and won't continue to be affected, albeit indirectly, is sadly mistaken. ?And if you still don't believe me, just try taking an international flight and compare the security arrangements now to what they used to be.
It's hard to believe that anything positive could come out of such devastation but I watched a programme two days ago showing the work of the people who spent months searching the site and voids for bodies and body parts and those who worked tirelessly to match these with the missing people in order to give some kind of closure to the relatives and friends of the dead, and I have to say that the courage and dedication displayed by those working tirelessly to achieve this was tremendous and, to my mind, a ringing endorsement of all that is still good about the US and its people - despite the current media trend here in the UK to knock all things American.
(Sorry for rambling on but it's a topic that's close to my heart.)
