March of the Pigs

« Reply #221 on: February 02, 2007, 06:13:01 PM »

David Lee Roth has officially returned as the singer for VAN HALEN and will join the rest of the band on a North American tour this summer. The 40-date trek will mark the first time since 1984 that original VH frontman Roth will perform with Eddie and Alex Van Halen along with new bassist, Wolfgang Van Halen (Eddie's son). According to a press release issued today (Feb. 2) by Janie Liszewski from High Profile Media, "VAN HALEN fans can look forward to legendary high intensity performances, featuring a setlist of the most iconic hits ever produced by America's premiere rock band."

Eddie Van Halen said in a statement, "I am very excited to get back to the core of what made VAN HALEN."

As BLABBERMOUTH.NET first reported on January 31, Rhino Records has set a March 13 release date for VAN HALEN's "Best Of (1978-1984)", the first single-disc compilation exclusively spotlighting 1978-1984, the group's original David Lee Roth era. The album, which coincides with VAN HALEN's March 2007 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, contains over an hour of remastered classics from the albums "Van Halen", "Van Halen II", "Women And Children First", "Fair Warning", "Diver Down", and "1984". Highlights include "Runnin' With The Devil", "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love", and "And The Cradle Rock". Also featured are "Everybody Wants Some", "So This Is Love" and "Oh, Pretty Woman". The CD booklet will contain rarely seen photos and liner notes.

According to MelodicRock.com, VAN HALEN ? featuring David Lee Roth on vocals ? will likely play two dates in Las Vegas at The Pearl at The Palms Casino on April 27-28 before kicking off a full North American tour sometime late spring/early summer.

that'd be sweet if they toured with G'n'R in north America in fall of '07 or spring of '08 yes

It would be even cooler if it was Michael Anthony in the band. It's still kick ass news, but there's already a Van Halen reunion thread.

It's official-it's on Van Halen's web site-I can't believe it finally happened, although about 10 years ago it made sense more-the band lost steam after the Gary Cherone era and years of non-activity, but Roth is still great and so is Eddie-they are putting out-yikes-yet another greatest hits album of the Roth era-no new material, but new liner notes-it reminds me of Motley Crue now-another band I want new material from, but who needs another album with Jump and Panama? I wish they would cut a new album. I'm glad GNR has not done this-one greatest hits album is enough.

It would be even cooler if the 3-4 Van Halen threads could be consolodated into one to save all the multiple posts and repeats.  Mods?

To be on topic, though, I'm looking forward to seeing Dave and Eddie back in action....nice to see the VH site updated, too!

From Billboard.com, it might as well be, sure that was before the concert was signed, but it has 2 sources shpwing that it was gonna happen. Plus the fact that there was no need for a new thread if we had that one.

I agree another thread wasn't needed, but there's a big difference between 'sources' and an official announcement from the band. Otherwise we'd all have a copy of Chinese Democracy by now.
