Singin' tu-lur-a-lei-oh...

« on: March 02, 2004, 06:19:03 PM »

Now this topic is slightly different to asking what songs you would like to see the band cover, if indeed they do choose to.

What I am asking is, if the band were to play a song, say live, then what song would you love to hear Axl's voice on?

Forget the politics involved in covering a song. What song would Axl's voice own?

Personally, I would love to hear him sing the Doors LA Woman, I just think that his voice would be perfect for that song.

I would also love to hear him sing Tool's Hooker With a Penis, because he can get a great sense of agression in his voice, like Maynard does in that song, and I just think that it would be interesting.

Over to you...

If I could pick any song for Axl to sing on live?  Well there's two I'd really, really like to here...Breakdown and One In A Million... Wink

But complete fantasy aside, I think he'd sound great on Masters of War and Simple Twist of Fate by Bob Dylan.

Steven's drumming made the band; he made a big musical difference.  His sense of swing was the push and pull that gave those songs their feel, afterwards, nothing worked. ~ Izzy Stradlin

Songs from Chinese Democracy...

Hells Bells (AC/DC)  - I wanna hear his primal scream

Crossroads (Cream) - symbolic of where he is right now

Stay Away (Nirvana) - just cuz it'd be interesting to hear his take on it.

I just want to hear him sing dammit!  Cry

Ahh you deserve a kick in the nuts and no mistake.

I meant a non-GNR song, as you very well know.

I would edit my original post to make it more explicit...

...But I'm not admitting defeat to you.

Also, how about Smashin Pumpkins Bullet With Butterfly Wings!

Hell, I know that the idea is kind of out there...But imagine it!

I agree.. in fact, anything from AC/DC would fit to Axl's voice.
And I would love to hear Axl singing some Queen, maybe Innuendo !

And I liked the Pink Floyd intro Axl used to do sometimes at the UYI tour before starts Paradise City, I would love to hear all the song by GNR.

AC/DC?  Bah!  As great of a singer as Axl is, nobody can match the scream of Brian Johnson!   Cool

I'd like to hear him attempt "N.I.B." by Black Sabbath or "Beth" by Kiss.

Hallowed be thy name ( Iron Maiden)

If you've never heard it, try dowloading a live version....
I love Bruce Dickinson voice and style, but I think this song really fits to Axl's voice.

Janie?s Got a Gun by Aerosmith.

I can clearly hear Axl?s voice on that "run away from the pain" part.

It'd be cool to hear them do "No Rain" (that catchy overplayed Blind Melon song). It's such a cool concept and has really mellow-sad lyrics that they matched with this upbeat pop type song - as a mocking of the real emotion- Unfortunately, not many people got it and it's still being played on pop stations & taken as a happy little song. I'd love to hear Axl do a darker heavier rendition, expressing the real emotion in it. Maybe as a tribute to Shannon too.
