anyone knows where that pic is from and why he did it?

It was part of a Rolling Stone magazine shoot.? I had that magazine at one point, long ago.

Are you thinking about the April 1992 shoot with Herb Ritts?? Because it's not from there.? This was shot by Sante D'Orazio in Malibu 1993.? I'm not sure where it appeared.

I may be wrong, I'm not sure at all.  I believe there were 2 Rolling Stone articles with Axl, if I remember correctly. I had thought this pic was in one of them.

I'm looking for an old Gn'R photo. Here at www.critical-solution.com they have a similar photo. I'm looking for a photo taken at the same time, only at a slighly different angle. The photo i am thinking of was used in Kerrang! and a car can be seen reflecting in Axl's glasses.

So imagine this picture at a slightly different angle:
