Cool pic - I suspect DJ Ashba will provide plenty of photo opportunities on the coming tour too
Never seen that one of Axl and Steve Tyler's family

I never understood why they asked George Chin again to take the band pictures. He's really NOT such a good photographer.

Just take a look at his pictures, anyone can take those. In fact, I've seen many photos taken by the fans in the audience with shitty cameras that are better then his. If George takes a good photograph it's just a coincidence. That can happen to anyone.
Compare George Chin's pictures to the pictures Robert John took of the band and you'll see a BIG difference! It's easy to compare them since both of them released a book of the pictures they took in the late eighties and early nineties.
I'm not only talking about the GN'R pics George Chin took, his other stuff isn't special either. Any fans of his work here? And why?

I can agree to the fact that Robert had alot of fuckin' great pics in that old book from 94. Since I'm not a pro photographer I can't tell you shit about the quality on either Roberts og Georges pics except that they all look good to me. Remember that Robert was at basically every gn'r gig for a long period of time where as Chin only does some of the gigs I believe. If they both rely on being lucky no wonder Robert has a few more good pics that George... I hardly doubht tho that Chin gets to take pictures of more than one of the greatest bands in the world and if his work was based on a good dslr camera permanently placed on automatic mode and a good portion of luck... Do you believe your self?

Yes, I do believe myself. Don't you worry about that. Robert only had the opportunity to photograph the new band at the first Vegas shows in 2001 (in more difficult circumstances) and even those pictures were way better then the photos George took during the entire last two (or three?) GN'R tours. There is one picture George took during one of the '02-shows I guess that's really great. It features Axl on stage in a red coat. But that's an odd one out. And it's not only in the onstage pics that you can notice a difference in quality. I visited Chin's site to look at the pictures of the other bands. There's really nothing special to them. Maybe Chin's just a nice guy to be around. Nowadays it's easy, just take as many pictures as you can. It doesn't cost you anything. Some of them will turn out fine. In the 90's things were totally different!
