While there has never been a "feud" between the two, it seems as though there is some animosity.

On Dave's radio show last year, he would diss Axl now and again, calling him a "cry baby millionaire" and saying the new GN'R wasn't GN'R. When he was fired from radio I remember watching him on FOX NEWS, and Dave was just rambling on, and again, he brought up Axl, and not in any real context...just sort of random.

My theory is Dave is jelous of Axl. Think of it this way, Dave was the ultimute "rock star" from the late 70s until around 1986, and then his popularity started to dewind in the late 80s with his Skyscraper album, just as Axl's star was starting to rise. I think therefore Dave may see Axl as the guy that dethroned him and there is some jealousy there.

Also keep in mind that Axl is still relevant, to the extent that he can still draw 8-10k fans in the US, while Dave has to play clubs (solo that is). People are still interested to hear what Axl has been cooking, as Chinese Democracy has taken on a mythical status; meanwhile, every album Dave has released since the early 90s has flopped.

So I think Dave may be just a tad jealous...

Ya, I remember that.

How about a GN'R/VH world tour?

DLR jealous of Axl no. Axl is not all that relevant bro , he can draw in the fans because the ticket name says Guns N Roses , let DLR tour as Van Halen and I bet he'd be getting loads of people too. Axl didn't take DLR down , VH got a new frontman hahaha.

Axl is a huge part of the Guns N' Roses legacy and that is why he and he alone "draws in the fans".

So he ALONE draws in the fans? Wow speaks a lot. First of , had Slash got the rights to GNR he'd draw in more people sheerly because the name is

GUNS N ROSES , do I care that axl has the rights , no. I was stating he draws in fans because of the marketing , the name , it says Guns N Roses not Axl plus so and so or a whole new name. If DLR got the name VH , then he'd be drawing in a lot more people.

I saw Dave in 1999 and 2002 and he played only one solo song between the two shows, "Yankee Rose." Dave plays VH songs. So Axl without the original Guns is still a much bigger draw than DLR without the VH brothers.

I will say that the 2002 DLR/Sammy tour had a good draw, but that was because of the novelty, and again, DLR played only VH songs, with the one exception.

Um, Axl's last name is Rose...........notice that name in the band's title?

And I'm sure that both Axl and David have better things to do than worry about who can pull the biggest crowd. ?Roll Eyes

The name "David Lee Roth" was a pretty big concert draw in 1986, but it looks like the name doesn't do to much now...

I would also bet you that Van Halen touring now with anyone else but Dave or Sam would draw in less fans than GN'R circa 2007.

I don't think Axl cares too much about DLR, but DLR does seem to have a stick up his butt when it comes to Axl.

1985 was a good year for David chart wise - maybe if he didn't use so many bikini models in his filmclips......

Exactly Dave is a frontman playing all his old bands songs with new memebers....hahaha sorry come on couldn't resist that one. Point is give DLR the VH name and it'll draw.

No...People may be able to swallow GN'R without Slash, but not VH without EVH.

There's no Van Halen without Eddie Van Halen.

There's no Guns N' Roses without Axl Rose.

That makes it pretty simple who people go see.

Van Halen was very successful without David Lee Roth too. The Sammy Hagar era Van Halen didn't exactly play small bars in the middle of nowhere.

A reunion tour will always cause interest among casual rock fans and fans of the band in question. It's not something specific about David Lee Roth. He's not the reason peopel are buying tickets, it's because it's a reunion.

Look at The Police.

I agree with the EVH and No VH statemnts ,  i was merely saying that if he had the brand name he'd be racking in more fans. But the last sentence makes no sense , He is the reason people are buying tickets they want to see him and VH on the same stage.

hell i've been saying and drooling over that thought for years now drool

i think thats one fo the reasons i got banned from blabbermouth, is because i would say all the time that the two would most likely tour at the same time so why not tour together?

you can only dream peace

A reunion will always be a reunion no matter what band it is.

It's got nothing to do with DLR.

Van Halen managed to draw huge crowds even after he left the band.

So you are saying fans pay for reunions simply because they are reunions? It has a lot to do with DLR , people want to see him with VH. People wanna see VH with DLR. Its like Motley Crue , if the got gary cherone back , i dont think it sell as much as they do with Vince.

first off we can all agree that gary cherone was a douche bag, ok.

secondly when Van Halen toured in '04 didn't they gross over 40million on that tour with hagar?

the point i'm trying to make is that people like VH with or with out DLR. To be honest i'd much rather see Van Halen instead of Van Hagar, even though my favorite song from them is Humans being, because i don't think anyone can do it better than DLR.

and technically its not a full blown reunion since they got wolfgang on bass.

peace
