I agree, neither are ballads in my mind especially not "Estranged".  "The Last Fight" and "Fall to Pieces" are far more balladish (I just made up a word), "The Blues" too.

I think he meant that VR's music isn't in the same league quality-wise as Estranged or NR....

Scott looks like a guy who can't play an instrument.

I don't think he can't play any instrument, in fact I don't think he can even sing

You Got No Right with a video, though not on an Estanged Level, surely is above a Don't Cry.  You Got No Right is probably VR's best all around song.

Jarmo,. you're such a tool for Axl.....do you dream of him

Question: What do you do when your favorite bad ass rock n' roll band's tour is failing, the album doesn't sell, the new video is boring and the GN'R reunion you keep having wet dreams about isn't happening?

Answer: You try to find comfort in insulting others who don't share your miserable life or opinions.  ok

Please note: This GN'R mention and insult was once again posted by a "old GN'R fan" in the VR section. Who's ruining the threads for you....

Is the above question for a VR fan or a GNR?  It can be equally applied to both.  Neither can sell out Arenas in US.  One has a CD that is not selling well.  The other has a CD that is not selling well cause its not released.  The one tour, though not selling out, is comparable to the last US tour the other band did.

Does anyone have the US/Canada touring stats for VR-real stats from Pollstar? Gnr averaged 8600 a night on the 2002 US/Canada tour and about the same on the 2006 US/Canada tour. Show me some figures Smoking or Jarmo.....

Presses buttons?  Maybe for drum loops and synths and what not, but why ignore the guitars, percussion, mellotron, vibraphones, and piano that are credited.  Whether you like him or not, Scott is a fairly creative and talented guy.  Maybe not your style, but to effectively argue a position you must be willing to grant the other side some valid points.  Otherwise you appear to have an agenda.

If I do recall...GnR relied heavily on ballads on UYI 1&2.  Don't Cry, November Rain and Estranged come to mind.

No need to bring another band into this thanks. Besides there's nothing wrong with ballads.

Unless you're Matt "drummer boy" Sorum and you joined a bad ass rock n' roll band.

As for vids in general, they have next to zero impact on record sales here in the US anyway.

That's incorrect.  Videos help to push the single up the charts which pushes the album's sales up.  It's not as strong a push as before file sharing, but still, they help.

Exactly. If videos are useless, why are artists still making them?

Videos might have lost the power they once had due to MTV not being MTV anymore. But without a proper video you don't get your single played on music channels. Plus there's nothing to put on Youtube.

WOW thats low there is nothing wrong with ballads UNLESS you are velvet revolver is basically what you are saying. The band is simple rock n roll nothing more.

Jarmo is a tool for Axl.

Axl is jealous of Velvet Revolver.

Ergo, Jarmo is jealous of Velvet Revolver.

As for the irony of the piano, it's seems a bit of a reach to even call it ironic when comparing a couple of shots in a vid to actually rolling a grand piano out on stage in the middle of a rock show.

Oh please.

It's ironic that VR fans are hoping a ballad will "save" their new album from being a complete failure when the drummer made those remarks about the piano not belonging in a bad ass rock n' roll band.

I'm a VR fan and I said/hoped nothing of the sort, the album seems as though it's tanked and that's that.

As for the piano, yes Matt said that in '04 echoing sentiments he felt when he joined the band some 17 years ago. ?Hell, I thought the same thing 17 years ago. ?I remember seeing them in '87 and thinking 'holy shit, these guys know what it's all about" then seeing them again in '92 and thinking "What the fuck?"

Until VR rolls a grand piano out in a live setting, I just don't think ironic is the right term or even a point of contention.

If and when they do, I'll do as I did in '92. ?

Roll my eyes and head to the pisser, now that would be ironic.

The problem is that they don't have anybody who could pull it off.....

Until they do, you can enjoy your Fall To Pieces and Last Fights.

hahha so what you are saying is

" ballads are no problem , except vr since matt sorum is in it" because sorum said that he joined a band thinking it was going to be bad ass r n r and axl was writing an orchestral masterpiece with piano's and such. No the problem is , they dont have anyone that can pull it off. I very much well enjoy FTP and last fight.

I love the song to death, the video is cool but I am a bigger fan of something of the nature of FTP's.. I'm just glad vr keeps trucking along, I hope this video gets some air time and it helps propel the group in comparison with the harrobile ock music being released staying popular..
