2007 AND 2011 HTGTH Fantasy Football Champ!

I've got a tough choice in my other league.  Feel free to chime in if you have some good advice.  We have a choice of starting 2 rbs and 2 wrs, or 1 rb and 3 wrs.  I'm definitely going with Shaun Alexander, Randy Moss, and Torry Holt.
Since Adrian Peterson and Lamont Jordan are on a bye, my choice comes down to Calvin Johnson at the Redskins, Fred Taylor at KC, or Jerrious Norwood at Tennessee.  If CJ didn't miss the previous week with a back injury, he'd be a lock, but his status is up in the air.  Seeing as how the Lions have a bye next week, they could respond by either giving him 3 weeks in a row off, thereby protecting their impressive rookie, or play him knowing he's got 2 weeks to recover.
Fred Taylor carried the ball 17 times or so the past 2 weeks, so he gets carries and he's averaging a yard more per carry than Jones-Drew.  Norwood, it's been said by the Falcons coaching staff, needs more touches.  He's getting single digit carries right now.

Unfortunately, none of these guys has a great matchup.  Unless I hear a good argument, CJ's my man if he's not kept out at the last minute.  If he is out, Taylor would be my man up against a surprisingly tough KC defense in Arrowhead.

 peace

PS, one more question:  I've got the Steelers defense or the Dolphins.  The Steelers are without Polamalu and they are in Seattle (tough place for opponents to play)  My other option is Miami, in Houston against an improved Texans' team.  I find it hard to believe the 'phins will be 0-5 and the Texans will be 3-2.  I just can't imagine that kind of a start to a season.  I currently have the Steelers starting... whaddaya think?

Definitely stick with the Steelers D, the Dolphins are terrible and their D is among the worst fantasy-wise.  Is Arizona available, playing the hapless Rams?  Steelers are good though, I wouldn't be too threatened by the injuries.  You've got it right on the head with your other ordeal.  Stick with CJ, if he can't go, go with Taylor.

i'd go with fred taylor. skins pass D is one of the best in the league, and they haven't given up any big games to opposing WRs. plus i always favor the RB if it's a close call since they get points much easier than WRs.

also, pittsburgh is at home. i'd definitely start them.

Much props to Sandman.  I should have gone with Freddy T. over CJ.  I'm up by 36 points but...he's got Driver, M. Lynch, and the Cowboys D.  I still have Romo and Witten.

I'd still rather be up by 41 points!   beer to Sandman.

sounds like you have the W wrapped up.  ok

i should win in my league as well to get to 4-1. i never would have thought ronnie brown would be carrying me! (and brady of course).

i also dropped philly D this week and picked up the Cards for the favorable matchup vs. the rams. it took a while, but it paid off nicely when they returned that late INT for a TD.

i tried to sub for my players on bye week but just checked and they were still on the bench. i would have won by a couple points this week. i'm a moron.

i have adrian peterson in my other league, and every "expert" said to sit him this week. i gave it some thought and luckily stayed with him. what a week. him and brady carried me to another W. i'm 5-1 in that league.

and alexander is done. he's finished. he looks like he can barely move and he goes down faster than a $20 hooker.

Sandman, I too, stayed with Adrian Peterson in my other league (and htgth's league), and it was great and all...but I still lost thanks to the Steelers D's bye, Wilkins is my kicker, and Holt and Shaun Alexander bit the big one.

On the Alexander front.  I'll go out on a limb and disagree.  I don't think he's done.  He had no holes to work with.  He's always been a patient runner who uses his blocks well.  Since Seattle failed to get the passing game going and their o-line couldn't block, all was lost.  Shaun will be back...with a vengeance...I hope!   nervous

Who in the heck do you guys have on your teams for RB's that you can even contemplate sitting A-Pete?  He is by far my top RB on one of my teams.  It wasn't drawn up that way but I was one of the unfortunate souls to draft Rudi Johnson (should've gone with Fast Willie Parker or Westbrook).  Yet I'm still averaging the most rushing yards per week in the league, all thanks to Adrian.  He's a must start regardless of the matchup at this point, really I would've thought even before his explosion this week.

Faldor, I've got Shaun Alexander, Lamont Jordan, and A-Pete as my big guns, with Fred Taylor and Jerrious Norwood as my "waiting in the wings in case of injury" guys.  Early in the season, Alexander and Jordan were guaranteed the majority of carries on their teams.  Jordan also had some nice matchups against the Lions and Browns early.  He did really well so I rolled with him and he didn't disappoint.  A-Pete has that darn Chester Taylor stealing carries and potentially touchdowns!

My first loss came last week when Alexander pooped the bed and I went with Romo over Hasselbeck.  Hindsight's always 20-20.

I am sticking with Alexander and I think he'll be giving a big f.u. to the nay-sayers as they beat up on the Rams this week.
..and yes I'm still going with Romo over Hasselbeck.  I have less pressure this week as I'm playing a team that has Tomlinson on a bye.  Smiley

i start 2 RBs and 2 WRs and a Flex. my 4 RBs are alexander, r. brown, peterson, and sammy morris. WRs are coles, driver, b. marshall, welker, and crayton. so i had some pretty good options.

also, peterson is not the starter and they were playing a divisional game on the road. i wasn't expecting much, and many experts (fantasy crew on espn news, thehuddle.com) predicted a low key day for him. but i felt good about his chances when emmit smith said all peterson owners should sit him.  hihi

The Sports Guy had an article a couple weeks back about what's harder to do, go undefeated in the NFL or in fantasy football?  Citing the Patriots of course, he concluded that it was actually harder to go undefeated in fantasy football because in the NFL each team has a bye week, but in fantasy you have certain weeks where your squad is decimated by teams bye weeks.  I knocked off a previously undefeated team this past week.  He's been carried by Tom Brady all year.  I was down by 38 points going into last night with Ben Roethlesberger to go.  He had Hines Ward, so I figured I was done, but 5 TD's later, none of which went to Hines Ward, I won by 2 points.

How's everybody doing in fantasy football, now that the year is almost over???

I was in 12 leagues this year (way too many), but I managed to make the playoffs in nine of them (five as a number one seed). I had so many good match-ups this week on paper, and I just knew I was going to win all these championships, and then God decides He hates me and He's going to make it snow in every game where I have a big-time fantasy player. I'm now out of playoffs in several leagues now, thanks to that snow. For instance, in our HTGTH league, my 11-2 team loses to a 7-6 team all because of Tom Brady, who singlehandely won me so many games this year.

I never wanna see it snow again in my life.

I hear you, I was in 4 leagues this year and am likely to lose all 4 by the end of tonight's game unless miracles occur.  I clearly had the best team in one league which pays out the most money, but am gonna get bounced in the first round of the playoffs.  I had by far the most overall points, but finished in 2nd place.  That seems to be a common trend for me in fantasy football.  I usually build a real solid team that racks up points but NEVER finishes in first in the regular season or playoffs.  I've only won one league that counted ever I think.  It's all about matchups and luck, and I always seem to run out come playoff time.

Gilee, I feel your pain!  I have been blessed with Tony Romo, Randy Moss, and the Steelers defense and they've all treated me well...until Week 15, the first week of my main league's playoffs!!!!   rant

I was 11-3 and the #1 seed in my main league's playoffs.  I need Adrian Peterson to rush for 200 yards and 4 touchdowns in addition to Robbie Gould kicking 3 or 4 field goals!  Yeah, I'm fucked.   Sad  The funny part is that in the 10 years of my league, the #1 seed has NEVER won our Super Bowl.  It's actually pretty cool because it spreads the wealth around.

In the Here Today Gone to Hell league though...Jessica Alba looks like she'll be in the Championship game!  Even knocked-up she's unstoppable!   hihi

Just want u guys to know, that next season I am not missing the draft and I will win or at least get to the finals.

I am in two other leagues, I am in the finals next week and the semi finals next week.

I didn't draft my team for our league and I got stuck with a shitty team.

That won't happen when I draft.
