There was something that really stood out when I heard November Rain at the Adelaide concert.

Just before the last guitar solo (the outro), Axl stopped singing, the band stopped playing and I though to myself. Oh, aren't they going to play the outro. Surely not!

Suddenly, the stage lights went down and a second later, the stage was bathed in a deep blue light. There was a pause and then the song picked up again and the outro was played.

Now, in any stage production you just don't use lights willy nilly. Lighting is used to add to the performance.

So what was the significance of the blue light? And the obvious pause before the outro?

Having spent some time here prior to the concert, my brain just went "oh, The Blues"..........a message for Slash maybe?

Did any one else notice this at the concerts?

omg, this has to be the dumbest post ever...

really, did u get any other hidden messages with the lights at the show? is axl predicting the end of the world as well, while  showing some strange lights to the effect...

gosh...

Well, why didn't he use a red light, green light or orange light at that moment?

Because that colour might not fit the song. Some people see colours whilst listening to music. This might be the colour Axl sees or the colour that the lighting crew sees and decids its a good colour to use for that part of the song.

I also had binoculars and was sitting directly in Axl's line of sight as he sat at the piano..

Was he sat infront of the birds you were trying to spot? If so, I recomend not going to a concert to bird watch... Its pretty logical.

Blue is a cold color and it's considered calming.

It's also "sad".

Did you ever hear the phrase "Feeling blue"?

If that is directed at me then yes. I know, i just figured i would put a lesser obvious, possible reason to why the colour blue is used.

It was aimed at stolat who asked why blue is used.

It offered a possible explanation.

Strange thread, I don't know if anyone else here "feels" colors while listening to music, I always feel red when I hear NR, SCOM is red also, for Estranged it's blue and PC is yellow and so on.

In the spirit of all things positive, I guess you had to be there.

Or maybe it stood out for you because it was the show you attended. Was it any different to any of the other shows you attended, if any? It would logically be different from any bootlegs you've watched.

Apart from being very sensitive to nuance in performance, I also had binoculars and was sitting directly in Axl's line of sight as he sat at the piano..

Hahahahahahahaha. Thank god you brought binoculars or you might not have noticed the blue light.

As others here have mentioned, Axl has always taken a pause there and many of them have been on the longer side.  I think the pause is for 2 reasons:

1) Axl takes a break/Drink
2) It just adds a more dramatic effect for live performances

However, the blue light, "a message to slash"?  That's a hoot.  Now, they could use blue lights as a signal to the lovely ladies in the crowd.  This lets them know that Axl has blue balls on a particular night and that he is in dire need of a blow job  rofl

The Blue light is so clearly a message to Slash! Like what else could it be?  That's obviously what Axl and the band intended, before doing the outro...honestly, do you want to dissect Axl's choice of socks too? Maybe they're a message to Duff?

he doesn't have to do it in morse code.  Frank being on drums already says that cuz Frank is the shit.

Let's put 2 and 2 together. Blue + lights + no album release date = nothing else to post about. Stolat holds the key to discovering CD's release date if he can just figure this one out! Everyone's emergency assistance needed ASAP.

Maybe I need to start drinking before the shows.....

Wrong, you need to be a Polish Method actor to appreciate such things.

lmao!  Oh my god, thank you genesis, if I had been drinking water, it would have been coming out my nose.  rofl

Seriously, no.  There was no hidden message.  Perhaps that lighting gives a better backdrop to the rain of fire that comes down around that time.  I don't know, but it looked cool.  Cool
