songs only, not whole shows.....give us your TOP 3 GnR performances
For me:
1. Welcome to the Jungle 1988 MTV Awards (the most ridiculously raw/hot/perfect performance of all-time)
2. Paradise City 1992 PPV Paris (Axl went crazy during the outro...longest outro i've heard during PC)
3. Welcome to the Jungle NYC May 12th 2006 (1st show back)
Consideration given to:
Welcome to the Jungle 2002 MSG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Paradise City 2002 MSG!!!!!!!!!
Coma 1992 Chicago
Madagascar 2002 CT
TWAT 5/12/06 NYC
Welcome to the Jungle 5/14/06 NYC
Nightrain 12/06/02 MSG
We will rock you (AXL) Freddie Mercury 1992
Paradise City Freddie Mercury 1992
Patience 1987 CBGB ("Anybody wanna try Patience? I sang this song once, we played it together twice. We'll try this. This is a song called Patience....see I even have to read the fucking words")
Dont Cry Japan 2007

I don't know if it was the greatest performance, but the energy from the band and the crowd during the opening rifts of WTTJ on May 15, 2006 unbelievable !

WTTJ RockAmRing '06 was amazing, but theres so many performances that it renders a thread such as this pointless.

I saw the BEST performance of WTTJ ever , the entire band was so raw
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81OPiTRU62o
Watch it all the way through , you'll understand why I think its amazing. I'm unsure of the rest of them.

IRS @ ROck am Ring is fucking horrible... the intro, his voice is so off... for IRS, try Inland Invasion or the last show of 06, LA...

I don't know I've seen some pretty bad ass versions of Nightrain ( and the 02 performances are always the worst hahah ) musically that intro was SWEET , but didn't care for Axl's vocals.
The solo's through it off , very good but something about is off. Like the last lick in the solo , it sounds like computer noises.....
Oh sweet " Feelin space brain one more fuckin time tonight " that was niceeeeeee!!! OUCH ron's last solo killed it for me , it's random improv some sounds good some of it sounds bad. He needs to quit the fast runs , and start thinking bout slowing the notes down and feeling it a lot better.

very true. Axl sings like a real beast the verse before Bumblefoot's solo (the most impressive guitar solo I've heard from him in Guns N' Roses) and all the ending. Way, way better than the demo, much more aggresive.
I became a fan of that song since that performance.
Here's the last two minutes of IRS at RAR:
http://www.goear.com/listen.php?v=f4839b3
And about Nightrain, it was really good at RAR, but I think that the versions at the last show in LA 2006 and the last show of the japanese tour 2007 were even better.
