DL play Coma over the PA before their shows sometimes don't they?
Not that it has anything to do with this but I just thought I'd mention it.
They did last year at both shows I went to. I saw them this year though and it wasn't played. Not that I remember at least.

Def Leppard made really good records from High N' Dry to Hysteria but lost their ways after Steven Clark died.? Today Joe Elliot sounds like shit.
Yeah, they rocked when they were younger, but now they call themselves a "pop" band.? I used to be a big fan, and still like the older stuff.
i hate that term "pop" to me Def Leppard will always be Hair Metal. They can't change what they are, they always have and always will be HAIR METAL.
as for them playing coma, when i went to a show in 2005 i don't remember hearing coma over the pa however i do remember them playing you could be mine.

Honestly...I can't even listen to def leppard. Can't sit through a whole song. I have always thought they were THAT bad. I think Journey is better than them...and Journey is awful. That being said I think it's pretty strange this interviewer has multiple questions referencing GnR. And Joe Elliot getting offended by them being called hair metal is absurd. Their music was hair metal, it's not even debatable. What is he afraid being called hair metal will make his songs less poignant or meaningful? Cause I don't think you could get any lower than "I'm hot sticky sweet from my head to my feet".

disagree. one single doesnt mean every song is cheesy.
listen to women or gods of war, not cheesy.

One song? I'm going strictly off of what I can remember ever hearing by them on the radio:
Rock of Ages=cheesey
Pour Some sugar on me=cheesy
two steps behind=cheesey
photograph-cheesey
foolin=cheesey
Love bites=possibly the cheesiest thing ever

i get what your saying but still they can't take back the fact that they are Hair Metal. If they didn't want to be Hair Metal then they should've either played faster, wore less make up, NOT have long hair, or come out of the 80s.
they may be laughed at but fuck the haters, Hair Metal 4 life

I never really thought of Def Leppard as Hair Metal, as far as image goes at least. I don't recall them wearing makeup and while their hair may have been long it wasn't all teased and hairsprayed like Poison, etc.

your right i take back the comment on makeup BUT they were hair Metal its just that bands like Poison, Cinderella, ect had a TON of make up and teased hair that Def Leppard didn't seem like glam or hair metal at all but the music was simply Hair Metal and still is today imo

Def Leppard do and ill throw GnR in this aswell unfairly get lumped in with that "hair metal" tag. Neither band imo was a "hair metal" band. I dont think Joe was taking a shot at Axl at all here. Just came across like that. Actually Joe is pretty tight with the guys in VR, there are quite a few pics floating around the net of Joe with the guys in VR, it is no secret that him, Duff and Slash are pretty tight.
Back in the day GnR just didnt give a shit what people thought of them , Leppard came across pretty clean cut but it is widely known behind the scenes they were pretty hardcore into the drugs and booze themselves.
The new album they have coming out is supposedly a more rock album , of course they say that before each release, as much as i like them they havent released a really decent album since Slang which imo is there best release to date. Hopefully there new one is in the direction of Slang, we will see i guess.
