This may be totally stupid of me, but if you don't ask, you don't know, so here goes, not to question the brand name, but every mic I have ever seen him with usually have a red sponge on them, is this just something that is added on to the mic by choice or something?  Reason for noticing is that if you watch Axl with his mic's in hand, usually when he is talking to audience he is always playing with the spongy part.

The red thing thats on it is called a windscreen. Its just there to make certain sounds less clear like s's or the wind from whistling.

he always switch to a normal black cover for paraside city cause he knows he's throwing the mic later.
i guess the red covers must be special to him , maybe he sleeps with these covers.

its def. over a grand. Probably between 1,000-4,000 bucks.
