After seeing the current band 3 times and many videos from the old band.  It looks like the new band plays the songs with alot more energy.  Almost every video I've seen of the old band has them standing around the whole time playing. But if you watch the new band, they moving around, dancing, playing the shit out of the guitars ....

I mean watching Fortus, Finck, BBF play is alot more entertaining then watching Slash, Duff, Gilby/Izzy stanging in one spot and playing.

Are you serious?!!! What videos are you watching? I'll tell you this hands down the new line up has more technical talent , but as far as energy I old gnr owns that area. Slash and Axl were crazy back in the day , izzy was the only one that stayed put.

yes, but slash fanboys will now flame ya to death. I know what you mean and I have the same feeling. People say that old band had more energy (not true), but I know that these new (not new anymore, though) guys move, jump and run much more onstage, and imo this is more energy. Smiley

Thats a great video.  I mean even in glimpses, Fortus is spinning and pounding the shit out of his guitar, Finck is doing his high leg kigs, and BBF acts like no one is watching him.  These guys go crazy !

How many times has Finck dove into the crowd too !?

The current GNR lineup has TONS of energy, a lot more than, at least, the 1992-1993 lineups. The 1986-1991 had a lot of energy onstage also, but the overall sound was a lot weaker in my opinion.

This lineup sounds better than ever. They sound harder, faster, more aggresive and technically, these musicians are almost undefeatable.

Anyway, I love all GNR lineups, they all sound great and every single GNR bootleg is worth listening (except some early 1991 recordings like St Louis 91 that suck).

Off topic: you all have to download the new Osaka bootleg uploaded in DIME. It is, in my honest opinion, the best audience bootlegs of all eras, all lineup. Check Rocket Queen out. Axl's voice is IDENTICAL to Live Era, the rasp is there and the band sounded tighter than ever. And the setlist is  drool CD, Rocket Queen, Maddy, UTLH, Dont Cry  drool

Damn, how I envy all the lucky bastards that attended that show... the bootleg is just unbe-fucking-lievable.

I WANT TO SEE THIS MOTHERFUCKING BAND LIVE!!!!  drool drool rant rant rant

I agree with you about the 1993 lineup especially because of the accoustic set. But watch this performance in 1992, that's pure energy.

For the most part in the old videos, its Axl who is bringing all the energy.  Where as with todays band, theyre all going crazy ... Tommy is the least active of them all, but Finck, Fortus and BBf all go crazy

I wouldn't say that the old band just stood in one place. From all the videos I've seen everyone was moving around, and running up the ramps and what not.

But the current line up have a shit load of energy on stage! And you can hear it in their sound.

Axl was the one with energy in the old days.

Slash & Duff & Co were drunk or high most of the time. I don't call passing out onstage being full of energy no

Yeah, sometimes Slash was running arround like a wild beast but he was mostly fucked up ...

These days, the band is a volcano that puckes energy all over the place. they simply rock better and harder than the old one.

as opposed to now, I think Robin might be giving him a run for his money.  smoking

Axl is still amazing tho.   Most charismatic frontman i've ever seen live.

as for the old band, they had some great performances too and I love them too.   Duff was the shit, Slash wailed, but yea I am totally feeling the current lineup soooooooo much more.

Bart Simpson was also making early appearances at that time as well........

Bart Simpson/Axl Rose never seen in the one room at the same time! Axl does voices.......... Shocked
