Spring of 1988, they came through Providence Rhode Island and all my friends older brothers and sisters went to see them. Everybody I was friends with had the cassette. I saw it at a grocery store called Almacs and made my mother buy it for me. I was 14 at the time, I ran home and immediately put it in my cassette player and threw on my headphones. The rest is history.

Who?
- alone
What?
- Vinyl
When?
- The day it was released in the UK, July 1987
Where?
- Just at home in my bedroom
Why?-
Saw the cover of the album, had heard of them but never listened to them. Loved the cover and just had to buy it to see what the fuss was about. Been hooked ever since and still have that same record with the original rape scene cover and inner sleeve (although nowadays I only play the cd).

Actually, I heard it after the Illusions... quite weird indeed lol. But after listening to it for the first time, like 4 years ago, it is by far the best album I?ve heard.

Who: Myself
What: CD
When: Around 2004/5 i think???
Where: In my room I guess.
Why: Because I liked Greatest Hits.
Are you me??
Actually, UYI I was the first GNR album I bought (after Greatest Hits, but that's not technically
mine
). AFD was next. I have this habit of not paying proper attention to what I'm listening to because I used to play albums on the computer when I first got them. (I play them in an actual CD player with earphones now and force myself to pay attention
) Had to listen to it a few times to get familiar with the songs. I knew WTTJ, SCOM and PC of course but Mr. B, Nightrain and Michelle soon became favourites. Now it's all classic. Rocket Queen is now #1 for me.

I was 9 or 10 ('87/'88). A school friend brought round Appetite on cassette and we played it side after side after side ALL NIGHT!!!
It was just the most amazing thing i'd heard, was into Maiden at the time and this was so much more "REAL". It was dirty, sleazy, nasty rock. Even though at that age, I didn't understand what the songs were really about, I knew the album, and by extension, the band, were something really special.

A dear friend(RIP) turned me on at his place Memorial Day '89 after a festival we had attended. It played to our lifestyle perfectly.

Who:? By myself
What: CD
Where: In my bedroom
When: 1998/1999? - so I was 16 or 17
Why:? I bought it the day I saw Big Daddy in the theater.? I heard SCOM over the closing credits-- I'd heard it before, of course, but for some reason this time I
had
to buy the album.?
It was only $9.99 at Wal-Mart, but it was edited.? It turns out, the songs weren't edited, just the liner notes-- the Wal-Mart version doesn't include lyrics or a picture of the original cover in the packaging.? I didn't realize I was missing anything until I saw someone else's copy.
I actually heard UYI 1 first-- I bought it on cassette in '96 or so after the pro wrestling company ECW used November Rain for a video montage.

Oh geez, this is gonna be a difficult one...my memory sucks ass
I had watched WTTJ on MTV a few times, and I didn't go bonkers over it. ?Then I saw SCOM, and the little aspiring teenager I was fell in love with it. ?This was, what? 1987? 1988? I was alone, as usual, when first heard SCOM
I can't remember where I got ?AFD, I just had it one day. ?Listened to it constantly. ?On cassette, of course, CDs were only a dream then
at least for me.
Then, I kinda dropped out of the music scene. ?Lots happened in my life, and I couldn't pay attention anymore. ?The Illusions actually surprised me lol
off topic- Almacs! lmao, what a name from the past! My mom shopped there too!

Lets see, I was one of the first kids to get into rock around 5th and 6th grade. I was innto linkin park at the time (kill me later) and on vacation my dad boght this 2 cd gold scorpions greatest hits. I thought that was the shit, so naturallly I started looking for similar music. I bought Nirvana (rip my balls off later) AC/DC and then I became obsessed with metallica. So I heard Jungle for like the first time consciously and Im like, that is the fucking coolest sounding guitar I've ever heard! I saw pictures of slash and he was in like some comedy central cartoon so I was joking with my friend like how slash from guns n' roses has done everything there is to do and talking about how fucking cool he was. Fast forward to late 2002. My friend really liked guns and I had my ipod for the first couple days and all i had were the standards off of appetite (SCOM,Jungle,PC) so I though I should download a bunch of songs so i got about half of appetite. THen I downloaded the whole thing and i was laying in bed listening to my ipod while i was going to sleep and I listened to appetite all the way through and I wake up and Im like "That was the best fucking music to ever grace my ears" the rest is history

I remember seeing WTTJ on MTV in '87 or '88? (yes - really!? they still played vids back then).
Shortly after I think my Dad bought the album and dubbed a copy for me.? But believe me, Camp GN'R - I will make up for this.? I'm still gonna buy Chinese Democracy three times.?

The first time I listened to Appetite in its entirety was in the summer of 1992. I got into GNR during the GNR/Metallica tour because I was 10 years old and that was the only thing MTV talked about all summer....I already knew the songs like Paradise City from hearing them on the radio the past 4 or 5 years. The copy of Appetite I had was a copy on a blank tape...within the next few weeks I had bought all of their albums on cassette and then Cd about 6 months later when I got my first cd player.

What: Juke Box
When: 1988
Where: Eveley's Arcade
Why: Everyone in my home town stacked the JB with GN'R songs, that's all that played there. Eventually, like 6 months later I bought the Cassette and never looked back.

Who: By myself, at my aunts house on the computer.
What: CD
Where: At my aunts.
When: Ummm, this had to have been around March 2005. I was 16 then, and I had no idea shit like this existed.
Why: Well, our closer Eric Gagne used Jungle as his entrance music, and I loved the fact that when Jungle came on, you knew that the game was over. And in January 2005, I saw Grand Theft Auto commercials and they used Jungle. So later that night, I decided to obtain a downloading service and to get Jungle. I listened to it the rest of the night.
A couple of weeks later, I was going through my cousin's album collection, looking for GN'R. I found Appetite and listened to Jungle, but I stopped right after! I was too afraid to go all the way! And I wasn't much of an experimenter.
A couple of weeks later, I was staying over again. In goes AFD. For some odd reason, I forgot to press repeat after Jungle, and It's So Easy came on. I decided to give it a chance. At the 1:35 mark into the song, I knew there was no looking back and that my life would completely change from after that point on.

I was 13 years old. Let me give an idea of my musical situation. I had been listening to Backstreet Boys , NYSYNC , and random crap pop or rap acts. But all of a sudden I found an interest for what I thought was "rock" I had got Good Charlotte and Simple Plan cd's I thought i was cool. My uncles one day heard me listening to a simple plan cd , and where like
hell no that won't fly. They burned me about 70 cd's of what they said was "real" music stuff like Pearl Jam , Alice In Chains , Nirvana , Rage Against The Machine , but the problem was I didn't have a cd player to listen to. So I went to the store to get some a cd player , and the clerk was like you can get a free cd with the purchase , so i'm looking around didn't know what to get and my mom goes, Look get this THIS is music. I was like sure screw it why not , I got AFD. On the ride back home I listened to it but thought nothing special of it , considering all I heard was WTTJ and I'd heard that before. I went through a giant Nirvana phase , and one night I put the cd on and really listened to everything , and I was completely mind blown and the whole thing. Of course since I began playing guitar in the "Nirvana" phase this was godly to me to hear Slash play was pure awesomness. I also remember looking up the best solo's of all time and SCOM was in there , and I was always puzzled because I thought the solo's where the little "mini" solos in between the chorus and verse. When I heard that solo for the first time I knew I wanted to be a guitarist and I had found my guitar hero!! To make things even more interesting later that year this kid at school , little asian nerd kinda dude , was like hey I found these cd's in my attic you might like them....Those cd's my friends, Use Your Illiusions I and II.

SO WHY DONT JUSS F' OFF!
Ahh YES I remember hearing that and thinking , these are the guys that embody me. They dont take smack , they do their own thing. Thats it time to listen to AFD , GNR is really a band that always inspires me to keep going as a musician!!

the year was 1991, I was 11 years old.
I fell in love with GnR after seeing the YCBM video which was on CONSTANTLY at the time. But my mom was really really catholic and refused to let me have cds with the "Parental Advisory" stickers on them, not to mention we lived in St. Louis and this was right around the same time that shit happened so my parents thought Axl was an asshole. I had a buddy copy GnR Lies and AFD for me, and after the Illusion albums came out I snuck out one night, rode my bike to the record store, and bought them all on tape.
I remember at first I just listened to Welcome to the Jungle over and over again, I dont think I gave the rest of it a chance for like a week.
