i for one am happy, that there are people like jarmo and christos moderating this board... i don`t happen to want to wade through negative bullshit like it`s the case on cd.com and mygnr.com.
it`s annoying to read people making shit up about gnr and especially axl as often as they can., ron being pinned to the wall by a security guard backstage (who happened to be tom mayhue shaking his hand anyways..) was a good example of that...

considering NO ONE even knew about the album till 1988, i doubt it will be a big deal. Summer of 88 the thing took off big time
this is true. afd was out for almost a year before anyone outside of la even cared about it. and having some kind of commemoration just doesn't seem like something axl would want to do. he seems to shun the media and avoid awards shows and the like, so this seems too out of character for him, and i'm sure he would have some say so in the matter. and what's the point of re issuing afd? doesn't everyone on the face of the earth with the means to play music already own it?

what about these thoughts:
no promoted AFD-releases to come any soon this year but the small tour break right now is for practising all AFD songs perfectly to an extreme so it can be played complete for one and only time @
07.21.07 Osaka? Japan INTEX Osaka
to celebrate the 20years anniversary AFD release from 7.21.1987 ??
no source just pure speculation....but probably not too bad....could be the last time to get the heavily AFD setlist we are to enjoy since 01.01.01 before cd hits our homes? ?

This "a friend of a friend of a friend of my aunt's 3rd cousin that works in a record shop heard that..." thing is not welcome here.

Its Ironic when one of us swears on here , who isn't a "moderator" , an we Get bad Karma quicker then you can say "htgth"
but when A moderator goes off their "nut" and swears and carrys on,
it just escalates the situation even further,
causing more anger/bitterness/tension on this board...
Im a regular poster on this board and Chinesedemocracy.com, but considering how the mod/s on this board are,
is it any wonder why people have such disrespect for this forum,
considering the Moderator cant even control himself,
and its a website for god sake,
not the end of the world?
At the end of the day people will choose to believe what they want to believe, and having a source will improve a persons
chance at beleiving the material, but If someone surely believes what they are saying has a source and he/she cant find it,
then They are verbally attacked for no reason......
Gotta Love life.......
You're right, people are free to believe what they want to believe. And if "thelostrose" wants to believe that Axl f'ed up any chance of celebrating AFD's 20 year anniversary, that's completely within his rights. But you can't expect everyone to agree with that, especially since he has no factual evidence as such. Do you believe everything you hear? How about this one? I heard Axl kicked a dog in the streets of Japan yesterday. I heard it from a Japanese concert promoter, but I'm not sure what his name is. I have no link, but trust me, it happened. A little ridiculous, don't you think?

so....if they were planning something special in Japan....i would be extremely excited...i hope they do something different, and perhaps completely unexpected....
if they aren't...so what...?
i'm just glad Axl is out and about....good to hear him every now and again, good to see pics of him every so often...people are quick to forget the "silent years" and all the nonsense that came with it....
the discussions haven't changed too much since then in terms of speculation, but at least now we have some solid gigs to discuss and talk about, which is a major plus point in my books...
I am also glad to see AFD still being regarded as one of the best rock albums of all time, 20 yrs down the line....

Yeah I wouldn't exactly EXPECT anything special to happen at the concert that night. But if something does, then fantastic. The language barrier may hinder Axl from discussing the anniversary at any length, from what I recall he didn't talk too much on the UYI DVD's from Japan.

Nope. Nuttin'.
The only remaster or re-release of AFD so far has been the version Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs put out years ago. It sounded INCREDIBLE but it is well out of print now...

i never said, that axl f'ed up a celebrating release, i just stated (and i don't have any reason not to believe that person, but ok, nevermind), that it was considered, but it didn't happen. no need to twist my words or interpret my words in a negative way.

and again, i thought that my post was more or less common knowledge, but anyways... gonna think about posting things a second time in here. but at least i know that some people in here are just rude a'holes, somebody should ignore.

Rolling Stone has a mention of the 20th anniversary on their site now.
Guns N? Roses Past and Present Plan Appetite Anniversary Celebrations
Looking for a way to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of Guns N? Roses classic Appetite for Destruction? So are the rest of the current lineup and an assortment of former members. Onetime Gun Steven Adler plus former L.A. Gun Tracii Guns will play a show on July 28 at Hollywood?s Key Club with their own bands, Adler?s Appetite and L.A. Guns, to ?pay tribute? to the 1987 release. The ?new? GN?R will be performing on the actual date of Appetite?s release, July 21, in Osaka, Japan. And of course you could start lining up two weeks early for Velvet Revolver?s August 6 tour date at Verona, New York?s Turning Stone Resort Casino. And if you want to know what Gilby Clarke, Josh Freese, Paul Tobias or Buckethead are doing to commemorate this special anniversary, you?re on your own.
