Here Today...

« on: July 13, 2007, 04:00:39 AM »

My favorite show is the last night of the four night stand in Inglewood in 1991 since Izzy was still in the band and a ton of rare songs were played.  However, the sound quality has never really been the greatest so I compiled songs from better boots (Rio, Noblesville, and Stockholm) as well as some tracks off of GNR Maxxximum.  The result is a bootleg that features every song off of the inglewood show but not in the exact order but with better sound.  I also converted the MP3 files into higher bitrates for Rio, Noblesville and Stockholm and as for GNR Maxxximum I converted the files from MP3 to WAV and the sound quality difference is definitely there.  This is the setlist:

1- Right Next Door (Noblesville)
2- Mr Brownstone (Stockholm)
3- Bad Obsession (Stockholm)
4- LALD (Stockholm)
5- Dust N Bones (Stockholm)
6- Nightrain (Stockholm)
7- DTJ (STockholm)
8- Civil War (Stockholm)
9- Yesterdays (Inglewood)
10- Patience (Stockholm)
11- November Rain (Stockholm)
12- It's So Easy (Noblesville)
13- YCBM (Stockholm)
14- My Michelle (Inglewood)
15- 14 Years (Stockholm)
16- Drum/Guitar Solos, Godfather (Inglewood)
17- Pretty Tied Up (Inglewood)
18- Rocket Queen (Inglewood)
19- Don't Cry (Inglewood)
20- You Aint the first (Inglewood)
21- Used To Love Her (Inglewood)
22- Move To The City (Inglewood)
23- You're Crazy (Inglewood)
24- Out Ta Get Me (Inglewood)
25- Dead Horse (Rio)
26- Locomotive (Shoreline Ampitheather 7-19-91)
27- KOHD (Noblesville)
28- Perfect Crime (Noblesville)
29- Estranged (Noblesville)
30- SCOM (Noblesville)
31- Jungle (Noblesville)
32- Paradise City (Noblesville)

Ok, so I lied, I also took locomotive off of a different boot since I thought it was a better performance but you guys get the idea.

Nice I've been planning to do something similiar, except with every song that has been played live over the years.

One thing though converting MP3 back to WAV is pointless, as information is lost when it was converted to MP3, and this information can not be recovered from an MP3 file. If you do a frequency analysis of the WAV files you have created you will see the difference between an MP3 source and a proper lossless file.

Here is a frequency and spectral analysis of a lossless file.

Here is the same file converted to 192K MP3 then converted back to WAV

As you can see there is quite a difference. peace

hey Blackrose... what software is that? I've been using Anal Freq and EAC to do spectral analysis, but this one looks good too.

It's a handy little program called Hub Audio Tools.
Here's a couple of sites with some info about it.
