I'm not looking for anything great, being I knew nothing of it's release.. I know they're touring and stuff but no major publicity and I only see their vid on shows like Nocturnal State at 4am..Shame really.. I think they're more interested in just playing this time around then trying to save rock..

So how many copies.. I'll say 75,000

125,000?

But I expect for the album to get big with the second single!!!

Hell, I alone have bought it 3 times.  One for me, One for friend as gift, and one of itunes for bonus tracks.

I will eventually buy one more copy, I always put my favs in my car cd player seperate from my house stereo.. Lady at fye knew exactly what I was talking about, said she had sold a few .. good sign but I'm expecting nothing major in sales.. They need to get fair air play at real hours..

Will it outsell Contraband if The Last Fight takes off?  That would be tough.  The need 4-5 singles to push this thing!

I'm sure it will debut at #1 on the strength of SBQM - but beyond that - I don't know. There's not really a strong second single on it (in my opinion, of course.) I don't see The Last Fight making much of an impact on radio.

It's almost like an anti-commercial album in some aspects. I don't even really think SBQM is all that great of a first single.

300,000-500,000

That's far too many copies... I say it will move between 150,000 and 200,000 in the first week.  That could be good enough to beat Kelly Rowland for the #1 spot.

Linkin Park moved about 525,000 units the first week and that was considered astonishing.

Their record is much more radio-friendly (not that that makes it a better record) than Libertad, so I don't see that kind of performance being repeated.

If Velvet Revolver could sell 250,000 copies of Contraband in its first week, and considering the lack of new Hard Rock albums out there in the market, there's no reason it cannot exceed the sales and hit 300,000.
Overall, I predict the album to go double platinum, particularly if the other songs (that I have not heard yet) are better than the first single (which I have heard and really like).

There is a reason, man.  A very big reason.  Record sales have declined greatly over the last several years and are continuing to do so as a result of digital music downloads.  Contraband came out three years ago and the landscape of record sales has changed.  Rollingstone had a big article on it with a quote mentioning the record industry as "dying" and how there won't be any major record labels before long.

iTunes sales count as do any legal download sites u have to pay for. The reason record companies may go downhill is becase artists can do it all themselves now from promotion to sales, even recording is easily accesible where as it wasnt b4.

I think the album needs a lot more promotion from what Ive seen in the uk but it will still do well
