MY VELVET REVOLVER MUSIC VIDEO IS GOING TO KICK MTV'S ASS
Current mood: tired
Category: Art and Photography
WELL THIS JOB WAS ONE OF THE FASTEST AND EASIEST ONE'S OF ALL TIME. WE SHOT OVER TWO DAYS ON A MEXICAN TOWN SET OUT BY MAGIC MOUNTAIN. IF YOU READ MY EARLIER BLOG YOU WILL KNOW WHAT WE DID EXACTLY. PRETTY MUCH MADE A NON STOP ACTION THRILLER THAT LOOKS LIKE A TRAILER TO ONE HUGE BUDGET FEATURE FILM. THE PYRO, STUNTS AND GUNFIGHT WERE AMAZING. THE GUNFIGHT WAS ADDED TO THE STORYLINE ON SET, SPECIFICALLY FOR WEILAND'S SECTION OF THE STORY. I AM FINISHING UP MY SPECIAL EFFECTS TOMORROW AND IT AIRS ON FUSE TV TUESDAY OR WEDNESDAY. THE BAND HAS ONLY HAD THE KINDEST WORDS FOR ME AND MY PRODUCER ARTHUR.
SLASH WROTE- Its been very busy out here on tour, but I just had to let u know how fuckin' great the video is, not that I ever had a doubt, u were so committed to this project, but it really surpasses the standard by which the music video medium is currently dictated. I'm thankful that we chose u to help us realize the "vision" that we had, I don't think anybody else could have come close to accomplishing what u accomplished. Its the best video I've ever been involved with, for sure. Its as good or better than any of those epic GnR videos at half the cost in half the time. Not really ANY comments from me for change, it all works the way it is, I don't want to fuck it up. There is a couple shots of me during the spyglass section in the beginning that are a little lackluster, but everything else, the solo, the van, the fight scenes are killer!
SCOTT WEILAND WROTE- You guys are fucking geniuses. You made our vision come alive, but more than that, you took it to another level. I'm more pleased and more proud of this video than any other video I've worked on in the past. I guess the best compliment that I could give to both of you is simply to say that I have absolutely no comments and no requests for changes to be made (this has never happened).
You guys rock.

Wow, impressive words...
Judging by Slash's comments about this video being even greater than November Rain and Estranged, I am absolutely prepared to be witness of one of the best video clips in rock history.

Well to be honest it isn't that hard to do better than those videos, they are bloated, imo garden of eden is a better video than the nov rain, estranged, don't cry trilogy...

when i first read the story for the video i was a little freaked out by the seeming cheesyness of it.
il reserve judgment til ive seen it completed, but regardless of the band been happy with it still doesnt sell it to me.
slither was a cool video so was fall to pieces... dirty little thing was a real cool idea but could have maybe been done better. but it atleast it rocked.

Except that in this day and age, discussions that originate amongst fans on forums like this don't just remain here.? Journalists and other music sites get their copy, or parts of it, from here, and so it spreads...
In my opinion, Slash is more than capable of working the media to his advantage and he's well aware of the impact of what he says, especially regarding GNR.? He's got a new album to sell and, by bringing Axl's or GNR's name into the frame, he knows he'll generate more interest, and if it's a comment designed to cause controversy, then so much the better.? His unnecessary remark regarding the GNR videos was just another excuse for a dig at Axl.

he was comparing the vids he did while in guns with this new one how is that a dig at axl?
According to you if any of the ex gunners say anything about guns it's just a lame attempt at getting some attention? That's some pretty delusional thinking right there...

"half the cost in half the time"? - Come on, that's an obvious dig at Axl.? Or maybe you think Slash is holding himself accountable?? Personally, I don't but if that's your opinion, fine.

When one minute they claim to want to put the past behind them and then the next moment deliberately, and quite unprovoked, compare their current work with their previous work, what am I supposed to think?? The first of Slash's two sentences I highlighted, said all that was necessary regarding the VR video.? The second was there to add disparaging comments regarding the GNR videos and, as I said above, I don't believe that he's holding his hands up to bearing the responsibility on that score.? However, if you consider that delusional thinking, then again, that's fine by me.

who's not a liar in the music world? yeah that's a tuff one..
the stuff slash said was maybe only to the producer and not for fans to read.. so the dude blogging about it maybe should've kept his mouth shut about that..

yeah, the impression i get from reading slash and scotts comments is that it is what they sent in an email or something to the director for him to read concerning any alterations to the video they would like to see.
but the director has released this info and has now caused a stir with what slash is saying. its not slash been a media whore, its the director been a little foolish if you ask me.

Oh yeah because Slash would never say anything of this stuff on his own right? The more likely explanation is that the director asked scott and slash to a little something to help advertise the director and thats what they chose to say.
