I just hate that cocain killed himself.. would love to see where he was these days and stuff like that, for better for worse. although i think it would be great because if he was alive Nirvana wouldn't have been as overrated as they are

Nirvana didn't kill off rock, GN'R, Metallica and U2 etc, are still around. Maybe Poison and shit like that died off, but GN'R killed that shit, by being miles better than them....hey ho.... Grin

Just like what punk did in the 70s.

Things go in cycles....

The whole scene had gotten old, people wanted new.

I think Nirvana would have gotten the same amount of praise no matter what would have happened. Although they may have gone on to release stuff that critics didn't like. Who knows??

I'm currently reading a book on them just now. It's a brick. A good brick though. beer

For the Mathematical impaired the last 15 years means since around 92 or so.

U had that one great period between 91-92

The last Golden Age of music like 83-84

91-92 u had all those amazing albums

Help me out

GNR UYI
Pearl Jam TEN
Nevermind
Dangerous I think was that time
Keep The Faith
Blood Sugar Sex Magik
DR Dre The Chronic

Tons of other albums from artists Im not gonna list everyone

after that its kind of been downhill.

Nirvana extended rock's lifespan.

At least they were real, and weren't hiding under a bunch of makeup and Aqua Net.

They helped great bands like Pearl Jam, AIC, and Soundgarden rise to prominence.

Yeah but underneath that Aqua net was great music. You like the stones and they were pretty damned glam at times.

Band's like Nirvana almost sent rock to the grave. That's why rap got so big, they weren't afraid to be entertainers.

I tend to think it was the Seattle bands and GnR that saved us from the crap that was FM in late 80s - early 90s.

yup, definately. imagine how cheesy the music would have been without GNR and the Seattle wave. imagine songs in the vein of "Cherry Pie" becoming even more poppy...cos that's the way rock was headed back then!

Yeah dude, no question about it.  But by the end of the decade, there were just way too many ripoff bands out there.  Ripping off everyone's looks, riffs, and lyrics.

1982-1991 is the best ten year period. Spanning from The number of the beast to UYI/Metallica/Nevermind/No more tears.
