Thought Id make a thread about the bonus tracks, b-sides etc etc.
From the bonus tracks I've heard (Messages and $ Laugh) Im kinda glad they didnt make the album.
The reason is because they are so fucking cool.
I love the Libertad album, its great. All the songs flow nice and its just a great listen with nice production, nice melodies, riffs, solos and beats. Basically, its solid. However, had tracks like Messages and $ Laugh been included, they would have made other songs feel like filler. Basically what im saying is Libertad is fucking great but the bonus tracks are even better. It would be cool to have an album with songs of this seemingly higher quality material. Especially since Slash is in full swing on Messages.
So yeah... umm... discuss.

Messages
Gas and A Dollar Laugh
Don't Drop That Dime (hidden album track)
Psycho Killer (Talking Heads cover, can be found on the EP)

Although im more than happy to have libertad as an album  I just hope this is a glimps of whats to come in the future. |

hehe, I seriously doubt that would happen ?  atleast it shows the potential within the band for different styles to come in the future. i cant wait for the next album. but il let the guys tour and rest for a little bit ?  as much as the wait is gonna be so hard. |

Been listening to messages since last night and I have listened to gas and a dollar laugh a few times. I think libertad is a great album. If those two songs replaced For a Brother and SBQM it would be a classic. I think those two songs (especially messages) would have made this their benchmark. What they would be aiming to do as well as or out-do on all future records.

agreed, that is the Slash we all knew from his GnR days. Its a shame he doesn't show us that guy more often and I have no idea why they didn't put the song on the album. |

But see this is why everyone thinks I rag on VR. Its beacuse I know they have the talent to put out some amazing stuff, but both Libertad and Contraband fall short of those expectations. This is the kind of song I expected from the Slash/Scott Weiland pairing when I first heard about Scott joining VR.

Wait about 6-12 months and they'll re-issue Libertad with "Messages", "Gas & A Dollar Laugh", and maybe 1 or 2 more "unreleased" songs in an effort to sell even more copies. It kinda pisses me off when bands do that.
I keep in regular contact with a local radio station program director, and i'm going to do the best i can to convince him to put "Messages" on the air- atleast 1 time.
