That guitar riff slash plays on gravedancer is so fucking similar to fall to pieces.....Every time I here it I think that this is the continuation of FTP......To me its almost like what Metallica did with the unforgiven part two. Has anyone else noticed this or am I just crazy?

Yeah it sounds a lot alike. Especially with weiland singing that repetitive "every time im falling down" line.

I think it sounds a tad bit like it , but mind you FTP also reminded me of SCOM. I read from Slash's own words actually , its just something he finds himself doing alot , its just a D chord picked out , which is the basis of both FTP and SCOM....  beer

The only thing that sounds similar is the opening riff. The rest of the song sounds more like "Loving the Aliens" to me.

It has to be deliberate; I noticed the variations of Sweet Child frequently on CB.

Yep I said it earlier today.

Carbon Copy

Carbon Copy is a bit over done , In fact you know what has REALLY been bugging me. Is that in the Can't Get It Out Of My Head cover slash plays the same lick as in November Rain , beside that the album doesn't sound like any previous work. Slash just tends to use that alot as a base for riffing.

Cant get it out my head - 1:40

November Rain - 3:39

Am I the only person here who thinks this is the best song on the new album? I think it's a really beautiful song, nice lyrics, Scotts voice is perfect and it contains some of the nicest guitar work from Slash since his Guns days. I would even go as far as saying this could be my favourite song by VR PERIOD but I guess time will tell, right now i'm in love with this song though  ok

As for sounding like FTP, the intro's are similar but that's where the similarities stop for me and after that it definately becomes it's own song. The productuon on this record is so much better than Contraband, check out that synth in the second verse.

So does every guitarist. There are many common classic licks that all players use and use again. It would be virtually impossible to not repeat a series of 4 or 5 notes in different songs, especially when youve recorded as many things as slash has.

But ive never once thought Gravedancer sounded like FTP.

I was on writing on MSM and listening to it and commented on that fact as well, the person i was talking to also agreed

I also remember comparing the album to some of the Audioslave songs as that what Scotts voice reminded me of

Dunno, can't remember. But Last Fight sounds like All Around The World, by Oasis, and SBQM sounds a bit like Vertigo (U2) riff. Tongue
