Evie and Out of this world - I wanted to do the finger thing and stop time too
One of my favorite shows from the 80's was a science show called 3-2-1 Contact on PBS.
Does anyone remember My Secret Identity? It was about a teenager who accidentally got superpowers because of his mad scientist neighbor. I dont remember much else, but I thought it was great as a kid.

somebody already named "V" it was great. here's another short lived gem..."Cliffhanger." it was a short lived abc show that had 3 or 4 mini-shows (different stories/plots). one was a vampire plot, a western , and 1 or 2 others that i cant remember....
Now, before I forget, yes!, Sledge Hammer and Moonlighting were great shows.? I never got into Fall Guy or Airwolf though.? But.....
I used to have nightmares about a show called Cliffhanger and I remember doing a search for it, but could never find it, so I assumed I dreamt it up.? ibelieveinaxl, thank you!? can you give me any more info on the show?? It had to be early '80's but holy crap, I can't believe you remembered that!? ?
ok, here's what i have for you and its not much. first of all it was 1979 so i was 1 year off but here's the info:
"The Curse of Dracula" (1979)
Originally broadcast in short weekly installments as part of the series "Clilffhangers" (see "Stop Susan Williams" (1979) and "The Secret Empire" (1979)). This was the only one of the three stories to be completed by the time "Cliffhangers" was cancelled.
"Stop Susan Williams" was part of the Cliff Hangers TV series which featured three revolving serials. Susan Williams is a journalist whose investigation of her reporter brother's murder takes her around the world in pursuit of bad guy Anthony Kort. Susan narrowly escapes death episode after episode.
"The Secret Empire" (1979)
In this homage to the cliffhanger serials of the '30s and '40s, 19th Century Wild West Marshal Jim Donner stumbled upon a secret underground city known as Chimera while chasing a gang of robbers. Chimera is lorded over by an evil despot named Thorval. Donner teams up with the resistance rebels in their effort to overthrow Thorval's cruel reign, while simultaneously investigating the gold robberies on the surface. p.s. i was right about it being a western!!!!
p.s.s. im gonna get a copy so let me know if you want it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OUT OF THIS WORLD. The girls name was Evie and she could pause time by putting her fingers together. Her father was an alien and she could talk to him through a crystal. If she stopped time and then touched someone that person would be able to move around like she could while the rest of the world was still.
Evie was totally hot. I always wanted her power.
Out of this World! That's the one. I always wanted to do the frozen-in-time egg yolks thing.

Damn, Greatest American Hero was from when I was really little. Great Space Coaster has been parodied on Family Guy, but since I haven't seen GSC, it went over my head.
PS I have very early memories of being baby-sat and when my parents got home from bowling night smelling of smoke, Mork and Mindy would be on tv and I remember it being cool that I was staying up late. I was 5 when they split, so this is goin' waaay back.

Wasn't there an 80s reincarnation of the Tom and Jerry Show, where they were suddenly friends and Jerry wore a bow tie?

ALF was 80's right? That show was great why didn't it last longer? Although nothing beats the A-Team nothing?
Oh and first seasons of "Married... With Children" aired in the 80's - the greatest sitcom ever to grace our tv screens
