wrinkle:
a slight depression in the smoothness of a surface; "his face has many lines"; "ironing gets rid of most wrinkles"

"premature dementia" because he has the monitors scrolling words?...he really has an interesting condition then, because he had the same monitors 15 years ago at the age of 30!

So Brian Johnson (AC/DC) and Ozzy Osbourne must suffer from the same condition because they use monitors too. I've never understood why Axl is scrutinized so heavily for using monitors and other artisits aren't. I don't see what is wrong with them, because there is nothing wrong with wanting to deliver a word-perfect perfromance of a song. And there are also instances where Axl improvises song lyrics live so these people should get their heads out of their asses and get their facts straight before they heckle a legend.

Chris Cornell gave an interview where he mentioned the monitors. Of course, his tour with GnR was over a decade ago.

Barbara Streisand had monitors with song lyrics as well as a script of what she said to the audience. And she insisted on metal detectors at the United Center.

the monitors just look bad is all-
yes they're usefull- but it leads people to assume you cant remember the words to your own songs. thats all... i mean.. do you think axl could get through "Sweet Child O' Mine" with out the monitors? its safe to say... MAYBE NOT?

Monitors are just a normal part of the evolution of electronics. Like smaller faster computers, cameras and all musical gear. It's there because it can be. If the guy uses them so what. If he doesn't so what. If you have a hugh stage and budget I guess you add all the bells and whistles. Jay Leno has 100 cars and motorcycles??? Because he can. How many camera angles do we need at a ball game? Most of us have computers that are so sophisticated that we use only a fraction of its capabilities...Why?? Because it looked cool when you were buying it. Be honest now we do the same stuff on the new computers as we did with the old ones. But just in case we have dual core hyperthreading realistic video and sound cards so we can go and post on a fan site message board. Whatever........

Anyone know what the basis of the "premature dementia" remark was? Like the source? It doesn't actually mention monitors in this article, and it just says he was accused of it after the Friday night Melbourne gig. Was it refering to some other shitty review or something?
