6/18/07, 6:30 pm EST

It?s Monday, and that means it?s time to reveal our official list of the best stadium anthems ever. We looked over your suggestions, added them along with ours, narrowed the whole collection down and came up with this list:

1. ?We Will Rock You?/?We Are The Champions? - Queen
2. ?Welcome to the Jungle? ? Guns ?N Roses
3. ?Blitzkreig Bop? ? The Ramones
4. ?Song 2″ ? Blur
5. ?Rock & Roll? - Led Zeppelin
6. ?Rock and Roll Pt. 2″ ? Gary Glitter
7. ?Unbelievable? - EMF
8. ?Start Me Up? ? The Rolling Stones
9. ?Final Countdown? - Europe
10. ?Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)? - C & C Music Factory

Yay. Rolling Stone Mag has lost all credibility when they left Slash off of their top 100 guitarists list. Oh, and I'm pretty sure they had flavor of the moment Jack White way ahead of Eddie Van Halen. Yeah, right, suck-ups.

It's a great song and all, and I know it gets played at lots of sporting events but what's the connection between the WTTJ-lyrics and sports? That goes for most of the songs in Rolling Stone's list btw.
Is it because a lot of sportsmen use drugs? Or they want us to feel their "serpentine"? Get In The Ring would be a more obvious choice (even though it's not about boxing or any other sport).

Think of a loud stadium/arena as a "jungle" and it makes more sense.  However, I think it's mostly just the badass intro rather than a connection to any of the lyrics that makes it popular.

That's just two words? Grin
I think LunsJail has it right, it's the badass intro that does the trick. It's all about the music, not about the lyrics or theme of the song.

Good list.  But they forgot Crazy Train.  Every team uses Crazy Train at one time or another.

The popularity of Jungle in sports has completely skyrocketed ever since Gagne started using it.

I think Jungle just has that "you're going down and there ain't a thing you can do about it" feel to it that is perfect for sports!  I think the Cincinnati Bengals first started using it way back, didn't they even refer to their stadium as "the Jungle"?
